Well here it is. A AFL team, that has so many great AFL Players. The great players have to come to an end at some point in the their life, and that time has come for about 4-5 of them. It is the beginning of a massive clean out at the Adelaide Crows.

The Adelaide Crows, with legends like, Nathan Bassett, Andrew McLeod, Simon Goodwin and Tyson Edwards are all nearing end of their AFL careers. It would be a shame to see them bow out without another flag to their name. McLeod, Goodwin and Edwards have already won one (in 97, and 98) But Nathan Bassett one of the most underrated players in the AFL, hasn't played in a premiership.
Do the Crows have what it takes to win a flag for their champion players? We'll have to find out.

Adelaide 2008 Team List

1. Nick Gill - A tall marking forward. Has great hands and his quick of the mark. Won't be beaten in a marking contest, but does have a lot of trouble kicking for goal.

2. Brad Moran - New to the club after being traded by the Kangaroos, Moran will help the Crows in the forward line being another tall target. Can play in the ruck and has a big engine for a 201cm player.

3. Kris Massie - Is defiently his make or break season for the Crows. Will need to prove his worth this year to Neil Craig or we won't see him in 2009 in Crows coulours.

4. Kurt Tippett - The former basketballer is another tall forward option the Crows can look forward to developing. Can also play in the ruck, and would be handy around the ground.

5. Scott Thompson - Potential captain? Has the leadership and quality to do so, is a great in and under midfielder, will be a huge season for him.

6. Jonthan Griffin - Will probably be the Crows number 1 ruckmen. Biglands is aging, so Griffin needs to take the next step in his AFL Career and become the number 1 ruckmen.

7. Nathan Van Berlo - Will have a major role as a tagger this season. Will play most of his time in the midfield, so we can get him ready for the future.

8. Nathan Bassett - His last year at Senior Footy? Has always tried his heart out, and has been underrated throughout most of his career, solid as a rock in defence.

9. Tyson Edwards - Unreliable. One game u can get a magic display from Edwards, but other games he has complete stinkers, will be hoping to have a good season from the forward line.

10. Jarhan Jacky - New player to the club, may find himself playing a senior game for the Crows if his lucky and playing well in the SANFL.

11. Michael Doughty - Has always had consitent seasons with the Crows. Needs to find a new gear now. 26 years old, needs to finally assert himself and show what a player he can be.

12. Robert Shirley - The Crows number 1 tagger, will help VanBerlo out a lot in the tagging role. Loves the rough stuff, and rarely gets beaten in the air for his size.

13.

14. David MacKay - A quick midfielder, will give the Crows a lot of speed a poise through the midfield or off the wing this year. Looks a handy type.

15. Brad Symes - Traded from Port Adelaide, is a ball magnet, and will assert himself into the Crows midfield this season.

16. Ken McGregor - Needs to have a good season, if not, he may be on the trade market at seasons end.

17. Bernie Vince - High hopes for this kid, will become one of Adelaide's main players this season. Needs to take the next step in his AFL Career.

18. Graham Johncock - Rock solid in defence, and plays on the small forwards week in week out. Knows how to rough them up too.

19. Patrick Dangerfield - Probably won't play much footy this season with the Crows after being their number 1 draft pick. But has a huge future ahead of him.

20. Ivan Maric - With Griffen will becoming a dominate ruck duo in the competition baring injury.

21. Chris Knights - Ball magnet. Can't keep him quiet, the long racking left foot is a feature of his game.

AFL Season to kick off

Carlton vs Richmond @ MCG - The awaited 2008 AFL Premiership season will kick off tonight, with Carlton and Richmond battling it out at the MCG on the Friday night stage. A huge crowd is expected to turn up to this battle, as both Carlton and Richmond are heading up into September action, being the last few years have been shockers for both clubs. Carlton have recruited well over the summer bringing in some names like Chris Judd, Richard Hadley and Darren Pfeiffer who all will bring a lot to the club.
Richmond are a young side too. They shall win the match, as they have more match-winners, in Matthew Richardson and Nathan Brown. Will this be the season that we see what Brett Deledio and Richard Tambling are really made off?

Port Adelaide vs Geelong @ Aami Stadium - The Grand Final re-match. Only 6 months ago both these two teams met in the 2007 Grand Final. Geelong had a record margin win ever in a Grand Final and smashed the Power. Will this be the same story. The Power have recruited a lot of new faces into their side, and loosing Brad Symes to Adelaide will be a big loss.
Geelong have let go a lot of talent aswell. Steven Kings, Henry Playfair, Charlie Gardiner are to name a few and the young talent of Nathan Ablett have all dissapered. But will Geelong still be as strong as they were last year?

Collingwood vs Fremantle @ MCG - Collingwood are obviously favourites for this match being at the MCG and considering they would have the better fan base. Expect Rocca, Fraser and Thomas to tear it up at the G, while the Dockers will struggle to kick a high score, with only Pavlich and Farmer their only goal scoring options.

St.Kilda vs Sydney @ Telstra Dome - St.Kilda with their new recruit in Steven King who will give the Saints a lot of drive through their midfield which is bolstered with stars already in Hayes, Ball and Dal Santo. Robert Harvey's last season? if so, the Saints will try and send Harvs out on a positive note.
Sydney have good depth, and with the recruiting of Playfair (Geelong) and Mattner (Adelaide), those 2 blokes should give the Swans a lift up forward and down back.

West Coast vs Brisbane @ Subiaco - With the loss of Ben Cousins and Chris Judd, will the West Coast Eagles ever be the same. Daniel Kerr and Chad Fletcher will need to step up a hell of a lot if they are going to win any games.
Brisbane with Bradshaw back into the side should be too strong, and with Brown looking fitter then ever, should be a cracker of a match at Subiaco.

Hawthorn vs Melbourne @ MCG - Should be a easy win for Hawthorn first up. Dean Bailey the new Melbourne coach has come in with a fairly young side, and with Lance Franklin, Jarryd Roughead and Mark Williams up forward, the Demons defence wouldn't have enough numbers to cover the Hawks attack.

Kangaroos vs Essendon @ Telstra Dome - Should be a good match. Matthew Lloyd will lead his team out, without James Hird and Kevin Sheedy by his side. Matthew Knights will blood the young kids this year which is good for the future of the club.
The Kangaroos have a good list, should be able to play finals this season but will need to work hard, as only Thompson and Edwards look capable of kicking a big bag for the Roos.

Crows upset the Dogs in legend Milestone

Adelaide have ruined Brad Johnson's 300th AFL Celebration at the Telstra Dome this afternoon. The Crows won the match between the 2 teams by 20 points. Brad Johnson, a legend of the Western Bulldogs was best on ground for the Dogs, but was held to only 1 goal as he couldn't help his team get over the line against a tough Crow opponent. The Bulldogs could only manage 9 goals for the afternoon, as they kicked in accuratley kicking 9.13 to the Crows 13.9.
Johnson played his 300th game in front of a home crowd, but it was the Crows who had the last laugh.

6 goals from medium forward, Brett Burton was enough between the two sides. Burton was hard to stop in attack for the Crows, and the free flowing football the Crows displayed this afternoon, suited Burton well, as he moved freely in the forward line. Burton lept well with his jumps, and was great in the air, a real spectitcal of his game.
The Media wondered if the Crows had enough goal kicking power to kick a winning score, but with Burton kicking 6 goals, and with Nathan VanBerlo (Midfield) and Bernie Vince (Forward) both kicking 2 goals aswell, the Crows looked comfortable kicking atleast 15 goals this afternoon, and managed 13 by the end of the game.

It was a good see-sawing game of Football being played. Giansiracusa was best for the Bulldogs having 26 possesions and kicking a goal. Brad Johnson couldn't kick the goals, but he came up the ground into the midfield to try and help his team, he ended up with 25 possesions and he took 13 marks. Jason Akermanis was quiet only having 14 possesions, while Brian Harris only had the 1 possesions for the match. Scott West was held pretty quiet by Robert Shirley, with West finisihing with 2 goals in the end and having 13 possesions.

For the Crows, new recruit, Brad Symes had a career high 34 possesions and he took 11 marks. 1 more mark then Brett Burton who kicked 6 goals for the away side. Andrew McLeod hadn't lost his magic touch over the summer finishing with 29 possesions, while Bernie Vince is growing in figure, having 23 possesions and kicking 2 goals. Brad Moran was good in hsis first game for the Crows having 13 possesions and taking 3 marks.

Infront of a low 19,219 fans at the Telstra Dome, the Adelaide Crows finish with their first win of the season, being under dogs against the Bulldogs.
