There may be more like him in the future if Shahid Afridi's camp successfully identifies some young talent

The horror, the horror.

Clicky

In all seriousness though, we need more players to be doing the same. As much as I love kids having to learn how to play cricket in streets with a tape-ball, we need proper cricket training as well.

In my opinion, that should be down to local clubs really. In places like England and Australia, the clubs are responsible for the development of the younger players, so if anything, more time and effort needs to go into that rather than bigger camps in my opinion.

Why not just have a national cricket week? Every test ground would have to organise a camp for cricketers from the local area.

Cricket Camp 2008: Old Trafford
Cricket Camp 2008: Lord's

etc. etc.

I'd like that, but of course the grounds would have to be in Australia.

It's fraught with problems. Who's in charge of saying who goes or not. If it's open entry then the possibility of getting swamped is there. If te clubs have to choose who to send it'll cause problems with the ones who miss out. Also, in all likelihood a high number of the people who get sent will have already been scouted by the county coaches anyway.

Also, what about the people who haven't got a test ground in their region? Do I travel up to Birmingham everyday or stay the week - either way it's gonna cost.

Maybe, something a little lower key and targeted would be better. Perhaps on a league by league basis utilising the local county coaches and players.
Better still, batting\bowling and keeping clinics would be the way forward.

What would Afridi teach?
How to hit every ball for six? :D
Your right though at least there is some coaching from international players

I wondered at first if this was another Cricketer doing a dance programme....;)

Well, atleast someone is setting something up. There are a lot of poor people who can't afford to play cricket, but they are very good at it in Pakistan, and seeing how this camp is free, I think those youngsters can be given a boost, not only to themselves but to their families as well.
