Aussie Players benchmark for rest of the cricketers

I am not a huge fan of Micheal Clarke. He has always been quite extravagant and is not in the same league as Ponting or Taylor.
Clarke was batting on 329 and Hussey reached 150. 5 runs to break the record would not have cost him the match. Certainly, he tried to 'show off' by saying look 'I am emulating Mark Taylor'. In his mind, perhaps it was like Taylor scored 334, I am declaring before that.

Additionally, I dont know how many of you recall the fact that Clarke scored 151 v India on debut in Bangalore in 2004. At that time, he called for his baggy green cap to reach his century while the so called Indianquicks were on. So, it got more to do with his personal ego and so-called sacrifices. Nothing great about him, neither as a captain nor as a player.

Really? In the next Test I'm kinda hoping he walks out, sees Zaheer Khan at the top of his mark and switches to his baggy green straightaway.

No need to be sarcastic. Clarke did indeed switch over to the baggy green during his debut test. Will try and find a suitable link to back it up.

No, I remember him doing it. I'm just hoping he'll do it again.

Strange to think how he's all grown up now.

He did indeed - and he's not the only one. I rememeber Justin Langer calling for the baggy green before a century, and not many people accuse Langer of being egotistical. He just loved his baggy green and wanted to make the moment even more special.

The other side is Hayden smashing 380 against a woeful Zimbabwe team. Essentially ignoring the history that Taylor and the Don had set.
That said, no-one else bludgeoned Zimbabwe to a score near that.
I lost my respect for Clarke at the lack of respect he showed us (the New Zealand team) after the Hobart Test. There was no shortage of him giving credit to Warner for his innings, but he didn't give the likes of Bracewell any credit at all.
I'm no fan of Clarke (expecially after he didn't take a once in a career oppurtunity to get up in the top scores of all time) but that is a little silly. It would be good form for him to give them props, but he doesn't have an obligation.
