Confession and problem

I have to confess that after reading the PC gamer review of BLIC I went out and bought EA C2k5. I'm obviously thoroughly ashamed of myself and deserve all the abuse that comes my way... :p
I'd like to be able to say I liked C2k5 but the truth is I don't know because it isn't working properly. After about 4/5 minutes the game will freeze, my computer will emit high pitched screams and I have to to a re-boot. My system specs are well above what is required; I'm trying to update drivers but it's kinda hard when your home connection is only 9.6 Kpbs via 3G mobile phone.
What I was wondering is, is anyone else experiencing this problem and does anyone have any clue how I can troubleshoot it? (system event log is useless).
Cheers,
Colin

Would you elaborate your pc specification? It is really pity that game is behaving like this.I hope you will sort out the things soon.

ATI Radeon 7500/7500 LE (driver version: 6.13.10.6094)

I wanna speculate that it's your Graphic card.
Do you have the latest version if directx ?

High pitch sounds are usually very bad, so there must be some messy conflict there.

R u running the latest drivers for your card?

Lastly, sound, what kind of sound card you have? I remember having a sound card that did something similar.

Don't feel too bad. I had Brian Lara cricket in 99 and enjoyed it but have played Cricket 2004 and 2005 since and in comparison with the BLIC '05 demo they are leagues better. Just my opinion though.

I take it that this doesn't happen with any other game you own? The only time I have had a problem like this is with an overheating machine/motherboard/graphics card. You haven't been overclocking have you? Hope not! :upray

what were your graphical settings like high, low etc.

does the game run smooth for those 4-5 mins?

also make sure ur machine is not overheated.

Don't worry Colin, you're not the only one ;).
Hope you get your problem sorted; have you tried fiddling with your soundcard settings in dxdiag (move to basic acceleration etc). Probably nothing to do with it, but just a thought...

well if you could play the demo with no problems you should be able to play the full game without any problem too. perhaps you should uninstall and reinstall.

PS: i knew you'd come around colin

It must have not installed properly, try re-installing.

Do you have DirectX 9.0c installed?

I know the error...its called EA... ;) :p

DirectX doesn't seem to be the problem as I have the most up-to-date version. I can't update my drivers until I have internet on my home PC again.
Overheating could definitely be the problem. It has been very warm here in Edinburgh recently although I've barely used the computer.
The demo works fine and I've tried various config settings ingame but all with the same effect. I'll update my sound drivers too once I am able to.
Thanks for all the responses and I'll try and get the drivers off the net on another PC tonight and burn them to CD.
Fingers crossed...

If you are running Windows XP or 2000 then it'd be a memory issue for sure... as C2005 requires 256mb RAM for this game, don't forget some of this memory is used up at Windows start up for some devices so usually it pinches around 15 to 20 percent of your resources so you're really only getting around 200mb free...

Your video card is fine as it falls into the supported cards category like mine does, and your processor is more than sufficient too...

Nowadays as mentioned previously, 256mb is not enough for today's gaming...

Hope this helps...
