Before i start this story im going to need a bit of help im looking to play as a county and international career on ICC 09 but what im looking to do is rename one of the youth players in a county team to my name and pretty much do a bit of a journal type thing on how he goes but as im an aussie and theres no aussie domestic teams on this i will have to do it as a county team this is where i will need your help can people suggest a county team that isnt the best but isnt really bad either and also preferably a team with a young player between 19 and 24 preferably aussie so as im also coaching the australian international team i will be able to select him in the team when i feel he is playing good enough cricket and i want to pick a player who hasnt played a 20/20 odi or test match yet any help is much apreciated

well, you could just buy an overseas aussie whos pretty young and hasn't played a international match. But Middlesex is a team in between. they're in div 1 for pro league and div 2 for county championship. The first Australian i've found is this guy

Sam Robson (Opening Bat)
19 years old
21.5K salary
Played 1 OD match
Yet to Play a FC or T20 match.
Australia (K) so he doesn't count as an overseas player

Good idea for this though.

Scouts find potential superstar

English county team Middlesex have been on search in Australia looking for new superstars that will help them find glory in england. After looking at the Melbourne cricket academy and not finding anything special they went over to WA were they went to a indoor cricketing facility where they found a Perth boy by the name of Jarryd Spagnolo as soon as they saw Jarryd facing 90mph balls and looking very good the coach of middlesex offered jarryd the chance to come down to the nets where Middlesex train and join in. If Spagnolo looks good enough there is a chance he will be offered a contract. Spagnolo only 19 and still 3 months to go before the county season starts it was a perfect time for him to impress the head coaches of Middlesex.

Arriving in england was one of the most nerving times i had ever dealt with mainly because i knew i had one chance to show the middlesex selectors that i was good enough and if i didnt show that i was any good i would be back on the plane in two days time. I went with my dad as my mum had to be at work back in Australia me and my dad planned to take a taxi to the Middlesex trainning facilities. Living in Australia for 19 years made it so i wasnt prepared for all the cold and rainy weather over in England. It was about a half an hour drive to the ground as i stepped out of the taxi got my kit out of the boot i walked over to the coach i was very nervous. The Middlesex coach Mark alleyne looked at me and had this look on his face of who is this kid but then something must of klicked in his brain he said to me "well well well if it isnt the young star from Australia put your pads on" looking around as if to make sure he was talking to me i put my bag down opened it and started putting all my pads on and picking up my new bat i had recently baught the Kookaburras angry beast. As i had never faced the English duke ball before that was also playing in my mind and i had never seen these guys bowl before as i walked to the crease i saw the coach walk behind the nets so he could have a good look at my technique first ball i got was a short and wide delivery i decided not to play at. The bowlers i was facing were bowling at around 80-85 mph i faced 50 deliveries before i was called aside by Mark Alleyne and asked if i would accept a contract for 2 years with a big smile on my face i said ofcourse for the rest of the training it was pretty much just fielding.

One Hour Before Teams Get Chosen

Journal Entry 2
After two months of hard training its come down to this the day that the team is chosen for the first game against Glamorgan in the first County Championship match of the season. I know that i have put in some very strong performances in the batting nets and i occasionally bowl some handy leg spin. But then again so have many of the players in the team. We have four openers going for the same two spots in the team myself Andrew Strauss who is a certain to play Eoin Morgan who has a good chance of opening with Strauss but might also be played down the order and Billy Goldeman who has had a very solid start to his career. As our coach walked out of the room he put out a sheet of paper and everyone crowded around to see if they were in the team....

im doing the same as you with the same player but not actually putting down a journal, just seeing how i go. started nicely in first class hitting 2 fifties and an unbeaten century. i also got 35 and 2 in the 50 over comp.

also while i was doing this, i was selecting for Australia and the name of my guy doesn't come up so you might not be able to select him for australia.

Journal Entry 3
I got up out of my chair feeling a bit dizzy because of the nerves i walked over to the table where the sheet had been put. I looked and i immediatly saw at number 1 was Andrew Strauss and then moving down a place with my eyes i saw "2. J.Spagnolo" a huge smile went on my face i was very happy. I saw some dissapointed faces and some happy faces our captain for the game was Andrew Strauss and our keeper is going to be Ben Scott. Our Coach came out of the room and had a quick word with the team saying "we need to look to the future this is why we have gone for a very yound middle order"

Damn that would suck if i couldnt choose him for aus later in the game. Ill be looking at yours to see how your player goes

im not actually doing an actual journal. im just doing one on ICC to see how he goes but i'm not actually making an actual story as im doing The Ashes (ICC 09) and a story in the other stories forum so ill make one like this after the ICC 09 Ashes.

1st day Middlesex vs Glamorgan Journal Entry

Journal Entry 4
On the morning of my 1st game for Middlesex i woke up at 2am and couldnt get to sleep no matter what i did. As time went slowly i just tried to imagine walking out onto our home ground and me dominating the Glamorgan bowling attack. I got to the ground at an early 7am and saw two other players there captain Andrew Strauss and our other Debutant Alec Bowen we had a little chat about what we would do if we won the toss and as the conditions were supposed to get worse as the game went on we decided we would bat if we won the toss. The next 2 and a half hours went slowly. At the time of 9.30 am when Andrew Strauss went out for the toss i couldnt feel my legs they were completely numb i went to get a drink of water and when i came back i saw our keeper padding up and getting ready to go out and field. We had lost the toss and been put into field we knew we had the bowlers to do well I was told to field at sqaure leg as the morning went on i found myself in a lot of celebrations because we were doing well having them at 5/158 the tail for Glamorgan didnt last long either we knocked them over for 245 and i took two catches and got to bowl 2 overs they were before lunch i had figures of 0/12 of 2 with an hour and a half left of the day me and my captain were sent into bat looking to not loose our wickets but we knew it would be a tough job. Me and Strauss put on a partnership of 25 before i fell on 13 from 24 balls i was out lbw i was very dissapointed in myself i hit two fours in my innings one pull shot and one cut shot and i was out there for 33 minutes we ended the day on 2/96 with only me and strauss getting out.

You won't be able to use him for Australia as he is a Kolpak player, which means he is playing for a County side and cannot be picked for Australian selection.

You can always just continue with Middlesex I guess.

i guess just playing as middlesex is what ill have to do

well then, you could just do a county career then. what would be the best way to do something like this then. just use an england youth player or what.

2nd Day Middlesex vs Glamorgan

Journal Entry 5

Early day two and i was preparing myself for a fairly boring day as we had 8 wickets in hand. I knew the next time i batted i needed to get a decent score because we have alot of good openers waiting to take my place in the starting XI. I arrived at the ground around 8.30 am and we did our morning training in the nets i only bowled as it was a big chance i wouldnt be batting today. At 9.30 i headed up to the pavillion where i sat next to a few of my team mates. We reached 355 runs all out. Our highest scorer was our keeper scoring 69 but two of our other batsmen made scores in the 60's. Glamorgan had to bat for 11 overs in wich they made 32 runs without loosing a wicket. Im hopping we arent in the field for to long tommorow but im also hopping i wont have to bat for a small time after tea tommorow.
