SHAKESPEARE ASSESSMENT CREATIVE WRITING TASK

Text Type: You may use either Narrative or Diary text types.

Topics: A day in the life of an Elizabethan OR a day in the life of a character from the taming of the shrew.

Length: 200 - 400 words.

Format: Revise the layout and requirements for each text types.

Due Date: Monday 23rd of November.

Groan... Yes, yes. I've come to the forum once again to seek help. Basically what's happening is I'm rather sick so I haven't really been able to write anything, and this is due tomorrow with no exceptions. So I need help, and now would be great because it won't be long until I almost feint. So yeah, that's the jist of things, so major help would be epic.

Ta.

Yes, I did A day in the life of an Elizabethan, but I don't have it anymore.
You write in first person and you're this guy who works all day, you see a poster for a Shakespeare show and decide to do something for yourself, so you go the show. Just describe the people you see, what they do, where they sit and stuff. Helps? Prolly not but Meh

Well if you're sick, you're sick.
200-400 is very short. As long as you can give a sense of continuity and change and don't start writing about logging on to Planetcricket you should be fine.
Elizabethan is pretty all-encompassing so you could do Raleigh or Drake if you wanted rather than this social-prolotarian-oriented focus some schools seem so hung up on these days. I'm sure there are plenty of online resources to help you.

Yeah, 200-400 isnt too long, not even a page I don't think. I think the problem would be starting it, which is my problem on things. You're a good writer. Once you get going it should come to you.

Well, my teacher said it was basically to express our knowledge of Shakespearean (SP?) times to the best of our ability. Pretty much just going to go with the 'Day in the life of an Elizabethan' due to the fact that the information I can collect is a lot broader and hopefully therefore a lot easier. Narratives I'm poor at, and if I chose that I'd more than likely write 1000+ words. Diary Entries I'm not all that familiar with though so It'd be a risk as I don't think I was ever taught how to efficiently write a satisfactory entry, although I'd imagine it wouldn't be too different to basic written texts. 200-400 I can do, starting would be the hardest part though, so slight help would more than likely be needed.

I wrote 3 200 word diary entrys for a History assignment. I scored pretty good for them. Want me to put them here to give you an idea of how I structured the diary entrys? I passed the assignment and it was thanks to the diary entrys - i did bad in the other parts.

Well heres my first of the 3. A 200 word diary entry really only needs to be broken into about 3 parts;

24th April 1915

Dear Diary

We are currently sailing on the boat as we prepare to land in Turkey - Gallipoli to be more precise. The mood on the boat is a fine mix between excited and nervous, as well as a hint of fear which is hidden deep in the heads and stomachs of most men on board.

Enlisting to fight in World War 1 was a thing of pride, and love for my country. I'm starting to have second thoughts about my immense loyalty and pride towards my nation has helped me in the long run after finishing the training which has made me start to come to terms with the physical pressure we will endure. Yet, the excitement of firing guns, hanging with mates and ultimately making a sacrifice for my country is overwhelming, and any second doubts are quickly flushed to the back of my mind.

We are expected to be landing some time tomorrow, which has calmed some men who were very anxious to find out when they will be getting off the ship. We aren't sure what sights we will see when we get off the ship, whether it will be a landscape fit for paradise, or the sounds and sights of blazing guns from the Turks. Tomorrow, I will find out.

Roy Denning.

So you would start with something like:
"Dear diary
Today such and such happened"
OR
"Dear diay
We are currently doing such and such"

Then move to how it happened / whats happening. Then concluding.

It's probably not ideal, but I got 20/25 on this assignment and it was pree much all thanks to my diary entrys. It's good enough for year 8/9 school work.

Dear Diary,

A storm is currently washing over the humble area of Warwickshire England, the town in which I reside. Although the storm is destroying the wheat fields my father and I have nourished these many years, I cannot await the arrival of the up and coming acts this evening, even as I write, the strokes become sketchy due to overwhelming excitement.

Just a start.

What happened to rage quitting life? :sarcasm

Is this 'Taming of the Shrew' the movie or the book?

In Year 6 did a diary for an 1800's explorer and got full marks for it so I've got a bit of expertise in this.....

LOL@Matt, typed ████ instead of ship

lmfao shut up. I couldnt find where i did it on the comp so I had to type it up for him and its 40 degrees rofl.

I wrote dead diary too. roflrofl

Great start too spinksy, now youve got a base to work from hopefully it'll just flow.

LOL, you had to type it up again. That's pretty giggle worthy *giggles*

Dear Diary,

A storm is currently washing over the humble area of Warwickshire England, the area in which I reside. Although the storm is destroying the wheat fields my father and I have nourished these many years, although this is overshadowed. I cannot await the arrival of the up and coming acts this evening, even as I write, the strokes become sketchy due to overwhelming excitement.

Many people from afar of noble lineage have rolled in to see this years highlighting act, the taming of the shrew at the ever so famous Globe Theatre. My father and I are immensely worried about tonight as my Father is known to many as Warwickshire’s Local Drunk or The Drunken Sailor. So depending on my fathers actions, I may arrive home disappointed, bruised and out of pocket –

I don't know quite what to do next. Was going to continue as though the play had already ended and I was back in my shack again.
