The match was headed more and more towards an early finish with Faulkner getting the tail-end slogger Wahab Riaz as Pakistan's 7th wicket in just the 20th over. It's effectively game over from here.

It all inevitably came to an end in the final over. The last three batsmen managed to prolong the match for almost 20 overs after the fall of the 7th wicket but the runs never came. Australia won by a comfortable 42 runs which was a lot shorter than expected given that Pakistan were 82/7 at one stage.

The CWG gold was Australia's for the taking. Pakistan had to settle for silver, and England for bronze.

Phil Hughes' breezy 78 in what turned out to be a somewhat low-scoring game earned him Man of the Match.

England's James Taylor won the Man of the Tournament for his 331 runs @82.75 at a brilliant S/R of 100.61 with over 14 sixes to his name. Mohammad Hafeez's all-round figures (223 runs @56.25, 11 wkts @17.73) ran him close, but Taylor's consistency with the bat stood head and shoulders above all comers.

That's all the cricket there is in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
