Online Cricket Games Owned
Surprise Surprise !!!!

Ubisoft has decided to offer these games as full downloads for free but there is a catch. They will feature in-game ads which I am sure nobody will mind. Its a first of its kind experiment by the company to see if there is any point in offering old games for free and still make some money off them. I reckon its a brilliant idea and I have started downloading already. So far 3 games are up for grabs,
links -
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Far Cry
Rayman Raving Rabbids

Mirrors (Gamershell) -
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
Far Cry
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Games are tested and working, confirmed by Planetcricket member, Pingusten.

Update -

EA is offering Original Command & Conquerer for free too as they are celebrating 12th C&C anniversary. Link to the press release.
Direct links to ISOs -
C&C 95 GDI ISO
C&C 95 Nod ISO
C&C Install Instructions (Doc file)

The irony of this is that I actually have two of those games and I did indeed get them for free...

Moving on! Let's hope Konami do this!

great news... this concept will surely become popular, i'll see if i can download these (would take a lot of time on my bandwidth)...

Ubisoft better let Rainbow Six Vegas out for free :p

Lol I was going to delete the thread until I saw the author. I think it's definitely a great idea but might be better if the games were not that old. Maybe if they release the games which are about a year old for download it would work better.

I too, think it's a brlilliant idea, and that too that other companies could start doing the same. But I don't think it should be limited to videos games publishing company. Perhaps companies like Adobe should do the same with some of their older products such as Photoshop 7.0 or Pagemaker.

Only downside is that my integrated graphics card doesn't support video HW transform & lighting. :crying

First of all you shouldn't decide to close thread based on the author of the thread! :p But I think with your idea of the games being 1 year old, I think that might affect the marketing of those games. In my opinion, games as old as about 2 (3?) years should be right for release as free downloads.

Just imagine playing Farcry and you've got your sniper rifle scoped in on for a headshot, your ready to pull the trigger and.....

"Get your ass on down to big steak Charlie's and stuff your faces with our all new all you can eat meat buffet!"

That would be slightly inconvenient.

I only read the content after I saw the name of the thread starter:p
There are a lot of new games one can play rather than 2-3 year old games. My point was if they release 1 year old games for download with ads then it may help in stopping piracy.

I haven't finished downloading them yet, they broke off in between. Once done and installed, I'll post some titbits. I think the ads would be in-game say, billboard signs or as a loading screen etc. Certainly not when you are sniping Evertonfan while he is enjoying his steak.

It seems that I will require to have a FilePlanet account in order to be able to download those games from there. Therefore I thwarted the idea of downloading the games from FilePlanet and looked for an alternate site. Although GamersHell seems to host host all of the above 3 games, plus Tom Clancy's Ghost Recond, with all of the games, there's a sub-header that states:"You will need an Ubi.com account and you must live in the U.S. to play the game".So I am just wondering, is there any other alternatives as to download these games, and any assumptions on whether or not I should be able to run the games considering I live in Canada?

Links from GamersHell:
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
Far Cry
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Yup, you can sign up for a free account at Fileplanet. Although I had my login setup already thanks to IGN Insider membership. Apparantly IGN and Fileplanet are interlinked in few things. And if they are going to lock it down to US only than to hell with them. I'll see how I go with the installation anyways.

Who could stop before, that they would now :P
