England Vs Bangladesh:
Test Match:
Dhaka:
Sponsored by Cable and Wireless:

England ease into a long and greulling schedule by taking on Bangladesh who shouldn't really prove much of a threat, England will look to bowl them out for around 175 - 200, they will field a full strength team with the exception of the third seamer, this has not yet been decided, either James Anderson or Simon Jones will occupy this spot against the big guns so expect extra effort from both when they get their chances. Andrew Strauss starts at the top of the order allong with Marcus Trescothick, it is the young lads first away tour and he will be wanting to make a big impact so look out for some big scored form him. The coin is flipped and the England captain chooses heads.

Micheal Vaughan won the toss and elected to bowl first, a strange decision, "I wanted to put them on the back foot from the off, i feel we have great strength in our bowling attack and we will look to really get at them from the off" He explained. The Pitch is in good condition for an asian one, very dusty with little moisture, wrist spinners would have a field day here, unfortunately England only have a finger spinner in the shape of Ashely Giles.

The plan from England's camp will be too get through the first 15 overs with the speed demons to wear down the new ball and maybee take a few wickets in the process. Steve Harmison will be one to watch on this pitch with the extreme bounce it will create, the only question is who will be the second seamer to partner him? Then Ahsley Giles will be partnered by one of the pacers of the captain himself will maybee have a go at turning his arm over.

i like the way you presented your match it looks so good and informative. anyway good luck and hope that you dont get bored with this long tour.

Bangladesh have crumbled to a dissapointing total, they had five men runout (one was a bug where they run and theres no chance of them getting there and the rest were legit). Match report up soon.

England Vs Bangladesh:
Test Match:
Dhaka:
Sponsored by Cable and Wireless:
1st Innings:
Bangladesh: 143 All Out

A DAY OF CLANGERS FOR BANGLADESH:

Bangladesh slumped to a dissapointing total as they were bowled out just after lunch on the first days play, poor running between the wickets proved to be their downfall, England however helped them allong by contributing 30 extras. Ashley Giles was the most effective but Steve Harmison struck first after Javed Omar and Aftad Ahmed effectively ran themselves out. He induced opener Harnan Sarkar into a false shot as the ball zipped away from the bat, it got the nick it was after and a diving Vaughan made the catch at 3rd slip, Sarkar was forced to walk after putting just seven on the board.

Harnan Sakar comes undone after a superb catch by the captain:

Habbibul Bashair tryed his best to steady the ship but after a superb straight drive and a fantastic throw from the chasing Simon Jones he tried to run that extra one that just wasn't there, it was reffered to the 3rd Umpire but he already knew the descision, Giles then took his first of the day, dismissing the no.4 batsman as he edged to Hoggard who was waiting in the wings and the score of 24 wasn't good enough. Giles then struck again, this time the batsman only made 1 before poking a cover drive to Flintoff at point, Giles celebrated accordingly.

Mohhamed Sharaful drives through the covers for his only boundary and only score:

Kaled Mashood and Mohhamed Rafique put on a promising partnership of about 40 before both were runout in quick succesion for 15 and 40 respectivley. A few more silly runouts later and Giles was asking the question again, there was no need this time though as the beautifully flighted ball enticed the batsman down the pitch, it spun through the gate between bat and pad und thudded into middle stump sending the last batsman back for 20. The tailenders and middle order played there part well for Bangladesh but not well enough as England sit well poised to obliterate them at 101/1 with Strauss past his 50 and Vaughan well estabalished after the early runout of Trescothick for 15.

Mohhamed Rafiqe cuts one on his way to a highest individual score of 30 for the innings:

Day1:

Superb Strauss Shreds Opposition!

After Bangladesh failed to post a decent total the England Openers went to work on the new ball attack, Trescothick played a few strokes that were well stopped in the covers and was dropped on 5 after cutting a shot straight to gully, he didnt fully recover and was ran out after a mix up, he called the run and Strauss said no, Trescothick was left stranded and was stumped by the keeper. This could have unnerved Strauss but the captain had a few words with him before facing his first delivery and calmed his nerves a bit, as it turns out it was the best thing Vaughan could have done.

Andrew Strauss cuts one past the fielder and to the boundary to bring up his 50 in style:

Vaughan and Strauss complimented each other perfectly and stayed around in partnership for around 90-100 runs but it was never going to last much longer than that, Strauss pushed on on Vaughan got more and more frustrated after being stuck in the 30's for a while. He eventually was dismissed for 32 after the persistant Tapesh Baisya produced an average ball, it was there to be driven and Vaughan caught it cleanly enough but unfortunately rammed it straight down the fielders throat.

Strauss reaches his hundred with a decent strike rate:

cricket200420050103130934988pn.png

Strauss looked in fine form as he cut, drove and hooked him way to a fantasticly well deserved century, he finished it of by after waiting patiently for the bad ball with a devilish cut which raced away square of the wicket to the boundary. This was tarnished however by the runout of Graham Thorpe for 0 after facing just 3 balls, a very dissapointing wicket to lose so cheaply, Thorpe drove one staight to the man at cover point and started his run, he thought it to have raced through for four, little did he know that the fielder had stopped it, before he realised the ball had gone whizzing back past him and the keeper took his bails.

England Scorecard:

cricket200420050103140125730bx.png

Flintoff was relatively new to the crease when Strauss was dismissed, Mustaq Ahmed was lining them up and he was knocking them down, Strauss took the bait, a ball flighted above eye level was smashed over the boundary for a massive 6 from the second ball of the over, the third ball was exactly the same, only this time it was a leg spinner, Strauss went for the extravogant shot again and sliced it to mid on who held the onto the catch to secure a big wicket for his team after a fantastic piece of bowling. Strauss has a lot to learn and you cant help thinking that if Marcus Trescothick was at the crease on the same number he would have gone on to make a bag load more.

Flintoff took charge after this and Collingwood was ample support for his charge, the bowlers looked generally frightened and he ended the day on 33no. Both batsmen are playing well and if they carry on like they are doing then they may not need to bat again this match, England will probrably declare when they reach a score of about 450 and look to bowl the opposition out within the rest of the day to rest the bowlers again before the next tour match with the Governers XI.

P.S

I wont be doing a full report of the tour matches, just results to save time and get to the big matches!
