The record for the fastest one day 50 has been broken by a Sri Lankan, here's the article from cricket.org

"Former Sri Lankan allrounder Kaushalya Weeraratne has smashed the fastest fifty in limited-overs history, taking just 12 balls to reach the milestone, three balls fewer than the previous record held by Adam Hollioake.

Weeraratne, who finished with 66 off 18 balls, hammered seven sixes and two fours on his way to fifty, including five straight sixes off 40-year-old slow left-armer Ajith Ekanayake in an over which went for 34. He told reporters: "I am hoping to play this way for the rest of the season for my new club and perform well to remind the selectors that I am around."

Weeraratne was playing for Ragama against Kurunegala Youth at the Thurstan College Ground in Colombo. Weeraratne's efforts were, however, wasted as the match was rained off."

Saw this on cricinfo yesterday. Strange that cricinfo's list misses out Glen Chapple's 16 ball half century from last year! Not cricnfo's usual standard of accuracy!

To me a ODI fastest 50 is who ever does it the fastest out of the World test teams, not any other competition.

However still a brilliant 50.

That would be a One Day International record.
This is a One Day Domestic, or List A record.

I miss understood it all, sorry guys.

So the match was like a Domestic One Day match in the Sri Lankan Competition Right?

And how old is this guy? I gather he is real young.
