The Special One unveiled at the Santiago Bernabeu

mourinho_real_madrid1.jpg

Jose Mourinho has been unveiled as the new coach of Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. He has signed a four-year deal with the club after Real and former club Inter Milan agreed a compensation package.

The Portuguese genius had this to say:

“I like to give myself a challenge and this is a big one. I have a lot of confidence in myself and my ability as a coach. I want to thank the board for hiring me and I promise I will not change. I am Jose Mourinho and I arrive here with all my qualities and my defects.”

Real Madrid sporting director, Jorge Valdano, welcoming Mourinho to the nine-time European champions, said:

“It’s an honour to have one of the most prestigious coaches in the world. We are delighted to have him here with us. The best thing for our club right now is to have Mourinho with us.”

Mourinho also explained how he thought the lure of coaching Real was too strong to resist.

“I don’t know if I was born to coach Real Madrid but I was born to be a football coach,” he said.

“My attraction to Real Madrid is due to its history, its frustrations in recent years and its expectations to win. It’s a unique club and I believe that not to coach Real leaves a void in a coach’s career. Luckily, I’ve had a beautiful career and it makes me proud to have come here.”

well if i can go into town today, (Hoping cricket is still on), then I'll go buy that, then go to cricket and play it when I get home. I need to persuade my dad into buying it though.

Anyway, good luck with this story. Will be following it closely.

Real Madrid legends bid farewell

84762405.jpg

Two of Real Madrid's biggest names, Raul and Guti, have announced their departure from the club in a joint conference held at the Bernabeu.

Raul, who scored a total of 323 goals for the 31-time Spanish champions thanked the fans, staff and management and said that no matter where he goes, he will always be a 'Madridista' at heart.

The same sentiments were echoed by Guti who has been part of Real Madrid since the age of 8. Raul joined the club aged 17 years from the youth ranks of city rivals Atletico Madrid.

Sporting Director Jorge Valdano thanked both players for their contributions to the club over the years and wished them well for their future endeavours.

According to rumours, Raul is expected to sign up for German side Schalke while Guti is believed to have already agreed a deal with Turkey's Besiktas where he would be re-uniting with his former boss, Bernd Schuster.

this looks promising. Sad to see two Real greats go but that puts the club in an interesting position. Looking forward to reading more kutgw.

btw i've never played any of the FM games are they any good

Well presented! :)
A good start, real madrid are my favourite club. So shall be looking forward to the updates.

Awesome!!! Nice to you back m_vaughan. I have always followed your stories and will be doing the same with this one :)

Nice start, it will be interesting to see who Jose tries to sign. He should have a lot of money at his disposal, so here's to an outrageous bid for Rooney/Torres, Real need a new striker to be honest, they've got good attacking players, but lack a Rooney/Torres, instead they've got Benzema, if he's still there?

Also, can you work out who my avatar is?

Real Madrid sign Benfica winger Angel Di Maria for ?25 Million

Real Madrid have agreed to sign Argentina winger Angel Di Maria on a six-year deal.

The 22-year-old, who is currently with the Argentina squad at the World Cup in South Africa, will move to the Bernabeu from Benfica for a reported 25million euros.

A statement on Madrid's official website read: "Real Madrid and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Angel di Maria.

"The player will sign a six-year contract with Real Madrid."

Di Maria joined Benfica from Argentinian side Rosario Central in 2007 and helped the Lisbon-based side to a Portuguese league and cup double last season.

He won the World Under-20 Championship with Argentina in 2007 and the following year scored the extra-time winner against Holland in the final of the Olympic Games.

Di Maria will add to the wealth of attacking talent at Madrid, joining Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Argentina team-mate Gonzalo Higuain as the Spanish giants, under the guidance of new boss Jose Mourinho, look to reclaim the title from Barcelona and make an impact in the Champions League.

I can :D

After all the real spending of the summer I only have about 13 million euros left in the kitty, so not sure if I'll be able to get that third striker, atleast a high profile one.

Have you ever seen the programme? Nice update, are the squads on FM11 updated to what they are now, if so, are you just giving us write ups of transfers that happened this season.

Real Madrid announce Pedro Leon signing

Real Madrid have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Pedro Leon from fellow La Liga side Getafe on a six-year contract.

Leon, 23, was presented to the media at the Bernabeu stadium. Real did not disclose financial details but local media reported the fee was ?10 million.

"Thank you to Real Madrid for allowing me to realise a dream I have had since childhood," Leon said. "Hopefully, I can win many titles."

New Real coach Jose Mourinho oversaw his first training session with a depleted squad missing players who took part in the World Cup in South Africa.

The signing of Leon is part of an attempt by president Florentino Perez to bring more Spanish players into a first-team squad that has been dominated by foreigners in recent years.

Squads are very much up-to-date. Since I got the digital download version, I did not even have to download the patch (something you will have to do if you get the DVD).

German duo join Mourinho's Real revolution

Real Madrid have confirmed two more signings today - VfB Stuttgart's Sami Khedira and Werder Bremen's Mesut Ozil - for a combined fee of ?27 million.

ozilkhedirabun.jpg

Both players were part of the German side that reached the last four stage of the recently concluded FIFA World Cup. Khedira, 23, who only got a chance in the starting lineup because of the absence of Michael Ballack, took the opportunity with both hands. Mourinho saw him as a perfect midfield partner for Xabi Alonso in the center.

Ozil, 21, was probably the star performer for Joachim Louw's side in South Africa and with just one year remaining in his existing contract with Werder Bremen, Real were able to acquire him for a 'bargain' price.

Both players have signed six-year deals with Real and take the club's transfer count to five since the arrival of Jose Mourinho with Sergio Canales, Angel Di Maria and Pedro Leon having already moved to the Spanish capital.

some good signings there. Jose is really bringing in some talent shame you couldn't afford a decent third striker it would of been good to see the likes of Rooney/Torres at Real.
writing is very good, looking forward to reading more
