This is one hell of a fighter sim. FreeSpace 2 is about 6 years old (maybe more). An extremely addictive game. I played part of it when it first came out and then quit because of ridiculous amount of work and school. I was cleaning out my room and found the game and almost jumped with joy. I installed the game (its on 3 discs) and started playing and got through half the missions in 5 hours.

Anybody else have this game?

Nobody? :(

Anyway, I finished the game today (just 3 days). Awesome ending, leaves you wanting more. Would've loved to see FreeSpace 3 being released but doesn't look like that's gonna happen. :crying

I played it.But I never got past the interface.

Actually, I was able to get my hands on FreeLancer just when I started to get comfortable with FreeSpace 2.

FreeLancer is the most amazing Space simulation I have ever encountered.

FreeLancer? Never heard of it, but if its like FS2, I might give it a try. You should try playing the FS2 game. If you like space combat and dogfights, this game is awesome. People say its a lot like Wing Commander, only better.

FreeLancer is a Microsoft publishing.It was a highly recommended game.Released in 2001(?)
I really play it even now.

From the review it seems like a cross between FreeSpace 2 and GTA Vice City. Sounds interesting, I might try it out.

it's one of the rare space sims that has been awarded full marks by various sites.

Its a shame space sims aren't very popular among the general gaming community, unless its based on Star Wars. FreeSpace 2 was awarded game of the year and Interplay went out of business a couple of years later. :(

BTW, here is an interesting review of FS2. Its a bit old but it echoes my views about the game.

Well, guess what.It seems that I didn't remove it, and it is still present on my system.:)

Playing it now.It seems good, although unability to see controls between the game pinches. As space sims are characterised by large no of keyboard configs.

Awesome :) I believe pressing F1 will show you all the controls. Pressing F4 will show the log of all the communications, mission objectives, and events for your mission. I recommend going through all the training sims, it'll improve your dog fighting skills.

I would ask you to play the original "FreeSpace: The Great War" to get a better idea of the story, but there are a few really boring missions. BTW, do you have the original release of FS2 or the Game of the Year Edition? The latter has some really tough user made missions.
