I think his point is more like:
By putting the events up so late you are actually wasting your own time as it doesn't give others a chance to bet on it.
I used to do vbookie and I know it can be really frustrating putting lots of events up then settling them when there are no bets (or just 1 or 2). Stick it up earlier and you should get more people betting so that should mean a greater satisfaction for you.
