School Cricketer
Hi folks,
I just got BLC recently, and I think it's a great game. However I'm having some difficulty. Can anyone give me any tips for batting/bowling? I'm not 100% up on the game's tactics, since I was never that interested in Cricket as a youth. Then I moved to the US, where most people think that Cricket is played with a mallet and hoops.
Firstly, I've worked hard enough so that I'm good on Village level and I can easily beat the best team with the worst team, but on County I suck, even when I'm playing a one-day match as Sri Lanka against New Zealand. Right now it seems that the hardest level is beyond the realms of possibility.
1. I'm kinda having trouble bowling with any precision. The cursor sometimes moves slowly, and sometimes really fast. I've tried using both a joystick and a gamepad, but keyboard seems to give me the most control (and that's not saying much). Is there any trick to this, or do I just have to keep pegging away at it until my reflexes get a bit better?
2. Even when I can get a good line, the length is questionable. I don't really know where I should be aiming to get my cursor for best results. Are there any specific lengths I should aim for using certain styles of bowling? I've tried using Yorkers with my fast bowlers, which sometimes works great, but sometimes I get hammered for 6 off every ball. I just found out today that swing bowlers use Yorkers in real life, but I haven't had time to try that in the game yet. Does it work?
3. When batting, when is the best time to hit 'enter' to strike the ball against various types of deliveries? Should I hit the key as the ball is leaving a fast bowler's hands? Should I hit it when a slow bowler's ball is at the top of its arc? I'm lost here, so please help.
4. Also, how should I decide to aim my shot? Are there certain shots which work best against certain balls? I seem to have no trouble hitting the ball to legside, but I can't seem to touch it if I aim to offside. How should I hit an long-pitched ball that's hitting the ground to off stump? Are there any guidelines for this, or do I just take pot luck and hope for the best?
5. Any other tricks or tips for a gamer who hasn't the faintest idea about the intricacies of cricket but who loves this game?
