Summary:
After a slow start we had a sensational finish to the season as Jack Watts came to age and kicked quite a few for us. We were hovering around the 9th to 11th mark for quite a while but a superb string of results towards the end of the season saw us scrape through into 4th position - a great effort, considering we were predicted 11th.
However, our finals performance left a lot to be desired. We kicked 10.7.67 in consecutive weeks to bow out as Hawthorn and Geelong left us in the dust - and we were truthfully never in the game for either of those. The Hawthorn match was particularly disappointing, but I was still pleased with our final position.

Match of the Season:
Round 20, Melbourne Demons (4th) vs Western Bulldogs (5th), MCG
Melbourne 10.13.73 def Bulldogs 9.17.71
This was an absolute thriller, and definitely the match of the season. Before this match, with just three rounds remaining, four teams were tied in fourth position. Third place was well out of reach but ourselves, the Bulldogs, Collingwood and Hawthorn were separated by just the tiniest of percentage ratings. The Bulldogs were sitting in 5th place whilst we were leading on 4th by just under one percent. This match was effectively the make or break point of our season, especially after I saw that Hawthorn had lost to bottom placed Port Adelaide and Collingwood were set to face third place Sydney.
The match was extremely tense - the Bulldogs led by 3 points at quarter time, 3 points at half-time and then 5 points at three quarter time. We couldn't seem to wear them down - they would get out to a lead and we would only just hang on. Midway through the final term, the Bulldogs were dominating and had stretched the lead out to 15 points. We looked dead and out - but the return of Aaron Davey off the bench provided something special. He kicked two quick goals, including one with just one minute to play to give us the lead. Somehow we came from behind with just a minute left to clinch a thrilling victory by just two points over the Bulldogs - it was a brilliant effort.
This victory sent us to a top four finish as we won our last two games against Adelaide and West Coast, and sent the Bulldogs spiralling as they dropped out of the final 8 - the loss effectively ended their season as they finished 10th, missing out on the 8 by just two points.
