Just thought some of you might find this useful
I am one of those with vista having problems with installing, BUT i found that if i updated it on my laptop with xp, recorded the files that were patched in the patch (text file) and copied them onto my vista computer i therefore didnt keep getting asked to update, hope this helps,

JC

Yeah, Im being told to update everytime that Iam trying Internet Game. Its annoying, a real bug. But I dont have XP unfortunetly. Does anyone have the same problem as me? Vista users.

I have sent an E-mail to Empire asking for some sort of technical support.

Hello Empire,

I, like a lot of ICC III users are experiencing difficulty in getting the new patch update.

I have downloaded the patch, it said it installed properly and I restarted as the Pop Up instructed before the installation (The warning to Vista users).

Now when I try and play the game, and click Internet Game, it pops up with the same Vista warning and then proceeds to download the patch again!

What do I do? Is this a bug and has it been resolved? Or is just my computer?

I am with xp but still facing the problem.

Everytime the the download goes to 31 % and gets stuck ! I think its because my net connection is slow ?

If the patch file is same for all games(I need the patch for game bought online )...............

Can Someone upload the patch file over here ?

Please I will be grateful and it will help many others like me !

Thank You !

Best Regards !

No !

There will be a patch file with the name

7.01-7.13 (something on that line )

they will have to release a patch for the patch now lol

Haha yeah, XP should be fine. I know users with XP who are fine. I think its just that blokes slow internet that keeps gettin stuck. Have any Vista users got the patch?

Please anybody willing to help and who have bought the game online......

Here is what to do once the 100 % download is complete and when the game tries to patch you have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete and stop the game from running.

Then open the game directory & there will be file with the name 7.01-7.13......

Upload that file over here........

Thank You !

I assume you must have already tried this but if not try this way to patchthe game..........

Download the full update and when the game try to run Ctrl+Alt+Del and stop the game.

Then go to game directory and open the patch engine (the one the pic of which the other guy has posted few posts back)and then see if you are able to patch or not.....................

This was told to me by the empire interactive guys for ICC 2006 when I was unable to patch at that time.

P.S. : Which version have you got ? Have you bought the game online ?IF yes please post the patch here for me using the method I told in my last post.

I got the trial and I got the serial - I brought it online.

I will try

Thanks Mate !

I am waiting for your reply !

P.S. : I hope you have your serial no. backed up so that you can use it if you have to reinstall the game

Oh can't. Im on my Dad's comp - XP.

Mums PC is Vista which is at my Mums (I go there Sunday).

Before anybody posts an update patch please run it past me as I need to look into the legality of it all.

There is a reason that Empire\Childish Things make you update in the way they do and that's to avoid cracked copies being updated.

With Vista the problem is that the patch s being downloaded to the wrong place due to the new Windows security measures. One way around this is to open the folder:

Program Files\Xplosiv\International Cricket Captain 3

Then double click on cricket.exe to run the game. This should enable the patching system to patch to the correct place.

Once the game has patched, exit and then start again so that it looks for the saved games in the right place.

More advice from the makers of ICC3 with regards the problem of the patch stopping whilst downloading.

For starters I would try turning off virus checkers while patching (make
sure they are turned on again afterwards). If that doesn't work, then
uninstall the game and re-install it. Then patch.

Some users may have changed some files, which would break the patching
mechanism. In this case they will need to follow these instructions (note
that Windows Vista saved games are stored separately so you don't need to
move them):

If the software does not update correctly it could be that you have added
additional options from other websites which will not allow the patch to
update the game.
We would recommend the following,

1.Save your game files from the International Cricket Captain III Saves
folder

The games that you save are stored at the following location.

C:\Program Files\Xplosiv\International Cricket Captain 3\Saves

If you have entered a player name then they will be stored under that name
with the side you are playing plus an extension of .cap
If you left the save as default player then it will save as Player 1 with
the side you are playing plus an extension of .cap

For example

squishy.Yorks-eng.cap

or

Player 1.Hampshire.cap

Copy the files to a new folder on your desktop.

2.Uninstall the game.

Uninstalling International Cricket Captain III

Click on the Windows taskbar Start button, Control Panel, Add/Remove
Programs.
Look for International Cricket Captain III and click on it. The Add/Remove
button will be highlighted, please click on Remove and follow the on-screen
instructions.

3.Check the International Cricket III game folder has been removed from

C:\Program Files\Xplosiv\International Cricket Captain III

If it is still present then delete the folder.

4.Reinstall the game

Installing International Cricket Captain III

Note: These instructions assume your PC is switched on and you are running
Microsoft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP

a.
Please insert your International Cricket Captain III Disc into your CD-ROM
Drive. The game should autorun. If the autorun message does not appear
proceed to step b, otherwise proceed to step c.

b.
Click on the Windows taskbar Start button and select Run... followed by the
Browse... button. Select your CD-ROM drive using the down arrow and click on
the SETUP.EXE file followed by Open, and then OK.

c.
Please follow the on screen prompts to install the product.

5.Update the software

Once the software has been reinstalled then press the Internet Game option
in the main menu to download and patch the software.

6.Replace Save files

Once the game has been updated, copy the game files you saved to the game
folder at the following location.

C:\Program Files\Xplosiv\International Cricket Captain III\Saves

Your software should now be updated and ready to use.

In a nutshell I think they are saying that if you have modified the game in anyway (new kits or backdrops etc) then it messes with the patching system. So you need to keep the save games but reinstall the game, apply the update and then move the save files back to the correct location.
