India and Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Sreesanth has been handed a life ban by the BCCI for his involvement in spot-fixing in IPL 2013. His Royals team-mate and Mumbai......(Continue reading here)

It is a bit surprising for me. Amir, Asif and Butt are banned for 5 to 10 years after doing spot fixing in International cricket. These 3 players did it in a domestic competition and got a lifetime ban. So it is a bold move by BCCI and i guess a right one. We saw couple of players involved in spot fixing in IPL 2012 as well so they had to take a step like this to make it clear that what the punishment will be. Definitely feeling bad for Sreesanth because I think he was a special talent. He surely had his issues but when on song, his bowling was beautiful to watch. This article is a perfect fit for him.

It's something like corruption. IPL is famous league and that incident made it more famous :D In future those kind of things never should happen, so I support to BCCI's big decision. 'Cricket is no more gentleman's game' this sentence will be dead in some days because of that decision

Poor Siddharth Trivedi. He is a decent bowler too. He is banned for a year for not reporting.

Very very stict steps by BCCI. Something like police cases. If someone don't report about a criminal even he/she know about that criminal, that person have to face police invistigation and some day punishment too.

The convictions are good but what is happening behind closed doors? Many of the men and women, the investors involved in the IPL may be involved with bookies, making multi-million dollar deals. There have been reports of such misdoings in the past.

What's going to be done about that? That's the key to solving the corruption problem in the world's biggest cricketing nation.

I think it is a positive step no doubt. For a change, BCCI is in the news for not the wrong reasons.

Players need to have the FEAR that they could be screwing up their careers forever by taking such foolish steps. The sentencing may seem harsh on the face of it, but it will definitely instill that fear in the players

bookies want to make money out of spot bets, they're opening themselves up to get stung.

Of course there's likely to be people trying to fix it, the problem is it is bets on things that can be manipulated and it's just greed from bookies. Live by the sword.....................

Life bans are ridiculous for spot fixing in a domestic club competition. I genuinely feel bad for Sreesanth.

Sreesanth's relations with BCCI weren't good, so this was sort of expected. But a bad decision IMO.

Srinivasan heading a committee to decide fate of corrupt people was a joke too. The most corrupted person in the BCCI heads the committee. Aah, the irony!

fully agree ...

Seems a bit strange that Trivedi got a ban but then the promising youngster Harmeet Singh gets away with pretty much the same thing..

Not sure where this is coming from.
India Cricket News: Sreesanth says he has done nothing wrong

Nothing wrong? Wtf!! He has been proven guilty, and quite sure he accepted that he fixed the match. How is that not wrong? Does he have any evidence to support his statement?

On the other hand, what about the RR co-owner Raj Kundra, he was himself engaged in betting. When will the BCCI or police take these owners down?

Also what about Srinivasan and his brother in law has anything happened with them?? There is simply no credibility left in the IPL (maybe BCCI) anymore, the amazing thing is the whole of India will still tune in and watch it I'm guessing.

Was there any before?

The worst part. Cricket crazy Chennai fans wouldn't even remember any of it once the their team starts winning again!
People can protest and comment as much they like, but the truth is they see it as some sort of entertainment which they eventually forget, just like a masala flick!

This would help.

Why chennai always vaibhav

I'm sorry but I didn't mean to offend anyone :)

But afaik people in Chennai are proud of their team.

Just incase you misunderstood

This talks about all the people in general.
