Is Rod Bransgrove right?

Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove has recently compiled a report saying International T20 should be scrapped and the format should be used to regenerate the Domestic game.

I think he has a point. I've had the pleasure of going to the last 2 English T20 finals days and had an absolute blast at both. I am seriously considering getting tickets to this years finals day no matter who qualifies. And look at what IPL has done for domestic cricket in India profile wise. I admit I haven't done as many T20 games domestically in the last few seasons as I would have ideally liked (I plan on doing more this coming season) but does international cricket really need T20? Domestic cricket probably does and it generally is better than international T20's to watch too.

I think I have to agree. Crowds at Australian domestic Twenty20 games are around 10 thousand. For the One Dayers, there aren't many people there and forget about the first class games.

I totally disagree i think in the amount of time, 20/20 cricket may just over rule one day internationals... but that might just be in domestic cricket though

I still think 50 over cricket should be promoted to the public more than Twenty20. Even though Twenty20 has been extremely popular, look at the crowds and the interest for the recent Test series between Australia and South Africa and the future tour their in a couple of months.

There is still interest for the longer, more traditionalist formats.

Soon people will stop going to international 1 dayers an just go to the 20/20s if they dont stop playing int 20/20s.

Normally the 1st 1 dayer at the MCG is a big crowd puller not sure on what we got this time but on tv it only looked about 35000.
The 20/20 played there a few days earlier got close to 70000
After the excitement of the 20/20 it was hard to get a good crowd for the slower version of the game.

If it keeps going like this soon crowds will be really really low for 1dayers as 20/20 is shorter more entertainment and doesnt take as long.

If there wasnt a 20/20 before the 1 dayer at the MCG i think they would of got a crowd around 60000

Like i said, in about 5 years or so, more people will be in favour of the 20/20 format because it is so much more entertaining and exciting then a one dayer match. I still rekon the 20/20 match will over take the one day match and 20/20 will be the main format of cricket

Kev will probably agree with me on this, but the 40-0ver format would help the ODI format a lot. We're dropping Pro40 in the UK in 2010, yet it's a better format than the FPT from the fans POV.

Bransgrove has a point, re: T20. We have a great product for the sport here, but we mustn't waste it.
