Justin Langer's Ashes Dossier

I like it. Good comments on the English attitude, but what he says about Strauss is very interesting. He rates Strauss highly. That's a good sign for England.

And he doesn't rate Swann too much as a spinner, maybe over-rated Bopara a bit, but maybe he was right and the Aussies just have left Bopara to face some quality bowling unprovoked.

Best thing that could have happened to England imo because just about all of it is true.

I like Vaughan's comment that they had exactly the same thing on the Aussies in 2005.

Well of course, even Bangladesh would have a dossier on Australia.

It's then just a matter of who carries out their plans better and that's where the attitude that Langer talks about often gives Australia an advantage. England matched that attitude in 2005 and backed it up with great bowling.

Cheeky git!

Still, this could easily backfire on the Aussies - it could (and should) fire the team up!

Its interesting how these dossiers get out into the public domain. Langer's an astute, experienced cricketer and he has listed the sort of things the team would go over in their preparations. Having this sort of thing on papaer doesn't mean that the team will win, it just gives an opinion on how to put together bowling and batting plans.
Vaughan was too complimentary. I think he should have explained that it was simply one man's opinion and out of the first three tests the plans had come to nothing for Australia.

Langer is a legend.

Anderson is a pussy, he is one of the sookiest bowlers I have ever seen. I think hes a prick. Thinks he is King Kong when things are going his way but when the chips are down he bowls rubbish and never brings himself back up. Just a typical Englishman I guess.

I've never liked Anderson since he gave Chris Martin a working over last year. He hit him three or four times and wasn't even trying to get him out, Ian Smith or Martin Crowe were going on about how sad it was during the game.

Thank god Southee put him over the fence a couple of times when he tried it at him.

Agreed.

I just lol at the guy whenever I remember the Ashes of 06/07. Hayden and Ponting used to treat him like a D grade club bowler.

Good read. But how the hell does something like this get out into the public??

I really have a bad feeling that this could bite us in the bum. I reckon the English might have a bit of a read and try to rectify their problems, as well as gaining a ton of motivation to smash us.

Probably because he was bowling like a D grade club bowler at that time. Bowled consistently too short in that series, and was still struggling majorly with his action, trying to change it in the nets and bowling naturally in the middle. Not surprising that he struggled really, especially considering he was playing against a top class batting line-up.

As for the Chris Martin issue, it's what fast bowlers do, they like roughing eachother up. Dale Steyn wasn't trying to get Anderson out last summer when he hit him in the head and on the body in a Test match last year, yet I don't see people moaning about that.......
