It's being reported that KP is having emergency talks with the ECB about Peter Moores. For a while before KP got the captaincy it was said he didn't like Moores and now as captain results have been below par.

Do you think Peter Moores should get the chop just because Kev doesn't like him? Or would you like to see Pietersen stripped of his captaincy? Or is it all rubbish?

I am not a Moores fan, I have to be honest, but if this is true, I hope KP has actually tried to make things work rather than just trying to get rid of him because they don't get on. If things aren't working we best sort it out ASAP with the Ashes coming up though.

Yeah never been a great Moores fan and I think KP is about the only person who has the guts to go and actually say these things!

Peter Moores doesn't seem like one of those coaches who will be harsh on the players if they're under-performing. He refuses to drop Bell whereas I'm pretty sure Fletcher would have by now. His man management appears to be poor and now it looks as though he's losing the respect of the players.

He's not going to take us very far in Tests.

Moores is useless. The only player he's chosen for the side since he came in that has performed has been Ryan Sidebottom, the rest have either been average or rubbish. The picks of Pattinson, Ambrose, even Prior etc. The way Bopara and Shah have been treated also annoys me. They're 2 of the best players in England and have just been ignored for the Test side, or batted out of position in the ODi team. Bopara was batting at 8 in one of the ODi's ffs, ridiculous. Bell's also been given far too many chances, although I do believe that the Windies series will be his last go, if he fails there he's out.

Also, the fact that he and the selectors seem so keen to bring Michael Vaughan back into the side amazes me. He's not scored runs, fact. At least when Bell went back to County Cricket he made runs, scored a double ton for Warwickshire and then scored 199 against South Africa. Vaughan's just not good enough atm, and the fact that Moores seems so keen to get in back in is ridiculous.

Some of the squad picks have been simply strange as well, guys like Amjad Khan, Darren Pattinson and Sajid Mahmood being picked ahead of Tim Bresnan, Charlie Shreck, Kabir Ali, Liam Plunkett, Graeme Onions, etc etc is also ridiculous. It's clear now that Moores was the wrong choice, we were saying it when he was appointed. England should have gone all out for Tom Moody, but instead went for the easy pick and chose Moores. Moody should be England Coach, and if he was you could guarentee that we'd be in a far better position. Could have allowed us to get Troy Cooley back in as Bowling Coach, because frankly Ottis Gibson clearly isn't good enough. The only bowler who's seen improvement has been Anderson, and the majority of his improvement was seen when Donald was bowling coach.

Get him out. If he's losing the faith of the players we won't win the Ashes, and that should be seen as the priority.

Is Moody coaching in the IPL now? Shame really. Just Imagine the set up of people like Moody and then Donald or Cooley. Cooley really was a great success and amazing to see how much he is missed in the England camp. People can't really come back now and say oh yeah Moores hasnt been given enough time but he has. And as Dan has said has picked some horrible choices!

I've been disappointed in Moores. After his success as Sussex coach you'd expect he would have a ruthless mind and Ian Bell would be gone by now.

TBH Tom Moody wouldn't have taken us to the places we needed to go, he certainly didn't do much for Sri Lanka.

What are the options as coaches for us and what is the likely hood we actually get a new coach. Would make my day to wake up one morning and find Moores sacked!

If we lose the ashes, then he should be sacked. the hopefully have a more ruthless coach which actually drops players who don't perform and reward players who do.

TBH I would rather do it now than lose the Ashes and then sack him :p

I'm sure we all would, but unless we lose to West Indies (which we shouldn't) I don't see him getting sacked until we lose the ashes. I wonder what options we have for the next coach?

You can't put all the blame on Moore, despite how much of a bellend he is the selectors are the ones who are reluctant to give players ago.

We need someone.............someone good really. But we have to remember things have to click at the right time. Coaching decisions, player form and captaincy decisions. About the Michael Vaughan thing, as much as I'd like to see him back the last time I saw him play a useful innings of cricket was against Australia in 2005 when he scored 166.

He's been bad for sometime now, unless he played good in 2007?

I totally disagreed with Moores being appointed. When Fletcher resigned there was a lot of interest shown by experienced and well respected international coaches and instead the ECB appointed a county hack who had never managed at this level.
I feel that England have been drifting ever since Fletcher left and need a top coach/manager if they want to keep up with the progress SA and India have made.

Spot on Colin, Moores is useless. Good work KP, Moores out!

And Moores is one of the selectors. Coaches often seem to want a bit of extra control over the team they get to coach, but I don't believe this policy ever works the way they want it to. The coach may well make the right calls, but he has too much power and isn't objective. You don't need players fearing the coach and you don't need captains fighting to overthrow him.

That said, I fail to see how selecting Vaughan would have been anything other than a mistake. However, it's the methods, rather than the decision, which have caused disharmony.
