Hello there everyone. In July I bought a Kookaburra Blade 250 cricket bat But having some problems like -

1. I have knocked in many hours but still I don't feel that it's knocked. Can anyone tell if I can knock my bat now (after 4 months of playing).

2. I want to increase the weight of my bat because when I play strokes my bat jerks even if it's a well timed stroke. My coach told me that it's because of the light weight of my bat. What should I do to increase the weight??

3. How can I know that my bat is knocked in??

Thanks in Advance.

1. Yes

2. You can put an extra grip or some lead tape at the bottom the grip but that could affect the pickup of the bat.

3. If you are getting seam indentations on the bat then it is not fully knocked in but if you've used it for four months I would think it should be fine. Some bats take longer than others to 'open up' and reach peak performance.

1. Yes you can.

2. Add tape on the bottom of the bat. Extra grips will only make the bat feel lighter to you.

3. A seasoned bat makes a very difference sound when a ball is hit. It is usually makes a less sharp a sound than the new ones and it takes a trifle less effort to hit the ball with a seasoned bat when compared to a new/unseasoned one.

Thanks both of you.. But what tape should I use??

No. I have tried the scuff sheet. It doesn't increase weight much

Judging your constellation of concerns, you should probably consider buying a new bat.
