This winter Michael has turned his attention to art! The result is spectacular ? Artballing. An innovative, unusual and exciting form of modern art! Over 60 originals have been produced to date, all of which are available to buy as high quality signed limited edition prints.

Michael creates his works by hitting, throwing and even bowling a paint covered cricket ball against a blank canvass. Many of the works such as his test centuries, his famous shots, such as the drive, square cut and pull are simply done by Michael playing the authentic shots! He hits the ball as if he were in the middle!

Other images use a simple template, which Michael then hits or throws the ball at to create memorable images such as the famous Ashes win in 2005. All the work is created exclusively by Michael.

A few of my faves:

Really cool artwork I think, especially the 3rd picture that I've IMG tagged in this thread. I really like the concept and some of the artwork's been really well done. When Michael came out in the press and said he's hit loads of balls over the winter to get ready for the season ahead, I presumed he meant in the nets, but clearly not :p.

The things people call art nowadays...

Pretty cool though.

I consider this far more artistic than sticking a dead shark in a tank.

I'd love a print of the Blue one at the bottom, bit pricey for me though tbh.

Nice to have on your wall, but only if its a MV original. Let's face it, we could all make something similar (and a massive mess!) but if you made your own and framed it, you'd be impressing nobody ;)

These are well better than that useless chair that the van Gogh fella drew. I mean come on, it's a tweaking chair.

For sure, though I guess you could try to expand or adapt the concept. It's all about creativity, the physical result is only a part of it. For people to wish they had thought of it only justifies it as art, which is why artistic styles have evolved over time.

I'm not saying it isn't art, I like them, I can't afford to buy one, but I like them. Bet they were terrific fun to make too.

I really like the first two, but would I ever pay to have them in my house?

No. Unless someone is massive Vaughan fan, I don't see the point. You could make something yourself just as artistic and nice if you had the passion.

Personally I like the ones where the balls have been bowled onto the canvas rather than batted. They are a lot of money for a print (Especially as I know how much it costs to print one off), decent sizes though.

Good on him finding something new to do, he certainly needs a hobby considering his lack of ability at cricket ;)

So he paints some balls and bowls them at a canvas and suddenly they're valuable?
