About to start a new game as Somerset on ICC and thought i would post my scorecards and results here for all to see. Would not class this as a story, as i won't be writing much or creating any artwork.

More to follow.

First game is At Home Vs a strong Hampshire side.

Hampshire win the toss and put Somerset into bat.

Result

A good win for Somerset. Great contribution with the bat from Trescothick who scored an excellent century, in cloudy conditions. Edwards also played well.

Hants fell behind the rate early, which enabled the spinners to control the game. Blackwell, although expensive was very impressive, Suppiah also played well.

The openers see off the new ball. Conditions changed to overcast on the last over. Hopefully it stays that way so i can up my aggression a little.

Double Century partnership. Great knock from Tres, falling just before the break to Yousuf of all people. Langer 1 short of a century. Cloudy conditions for the whole session.

A bit gutted not to win this game, almost feels like a defeat. I probably batted a bit too long, but we know how the cpu likes to chase down massive scores when batting last.

Yeah, both openers are on 5 stars of form. I paid for extra coaching sessions, so decent youths will be rare. However i did pick up a youth player with a 50+ second team average at the start of the season.

Was really pleased with my score in this game. Decent contributions for Durston and Trescothick. On the bowling front the wickets are being spread around, which is good because i don't actually have any stand out bowlers. This is my best ever start with Somerset, just waiting for the bubble to burst.

Wow, what a game. Hampshire looked to have it in the bag, they needed 4.5 runs per over. Then Crawley's partner ran him out, and i managed to sneak it. A late small partnership by Tremlett and Bond had me sweating until the end. Some spin bowlers looked short of form in this game, will have to give them some coaching.

Gas how do you allot your overs in OD games?

Simbazz meant to ask which part of the innings do you allocate for each bowler...........for example who bowls your first 10 overs, when and who do you bring on as 1st change, 2nd change bowlers, and who bowls your death overs.

Well, with Somerset in OD games i produce a spinners pitch, as Somerset have a few All round spin bowlers, who can bat. If i am at home i play 2 fast medium bowlers, either Caddick, Will, Phillips or Thomas. I play them depending on current form generally. I will then play 3-4 spinning all rounders.

Once the game is underway i start on two aggression bars, i bowl full until either batsmen hits me for four. Once that happens i bowl to the weakness, i never bowl outside off stump when playing the cpu, at least in od games. Once they reach 20, or just below i bowl on one aggression bar. If they race off to a good start, i will also bowl over/around the wicket. If a bowler is expensive, he gets taken off and replaced with someone else. Because of my team setup, it is unlikely that i would take off a seamer early on, i like to bowl 5-6 overs of pace up front. Then look to spin. If someone gets in against my spinners, i bring back pace for an over or two, to try and break a partnership. I don't normally play like this, but somerset have some decent if unspectacular spin bowling options. I don't expect this too work all the time, but currently its going well.


Result

A really tight game, but again i managed to win it in the end. My openers continue to help me setup games, without them my scores would be much lower. I am dreading the moment they hit some worse form. My pace bowlers are doing well on unfriendly pitch conditions which is pleasing. A few of my spin bowlers were again expensive, but they each contributed so I am generally happy. Glamorgan two solid batsmen scores in Hemp and Powell, and i was glad to see the back of them (actually i just realised i didn't get hemp out Lol) , once i did i was confident of victory.

My next game is at home to Hampshire in the County Championship. Although i have beaten them twice in the Challenge Trophy, i am not expecting victory.

For this game i chose a seaming pitch, and decided to play 4 quick bowlers and a few spin bowling options.

Well i expected a tough game and i got one. I lost a key toss, which ensured i had the worst of the batting conditions throughout the whole game. The cpu batted like monsters in the second innings, refusing to give a wicket away. I did however, keep the scoring down. It made no difference in the end though, as rain ruined almost all of the final days play. I would have taken the draw before the game started, and give the conditions, ill take it now too.

I now faced Gloucs away in the Challenge Trophy. I am expecting to win this game, so anything else will be a failure on my part.

Result

There were times during this game when i didn't feel in control, but i managed to pull through the tight periods and secure the win. They gave me a better game than i expected. Credit must go to them, when they were a weaker side on paper. Most pleasing was the fact that although my openers failed to some extent, the other batsmen came through.

My next game is a County Championship game, i am hosting Sussex. I have a slightly better team on paper, and given the fact i am at home i will push for a win though i don't expect it to be easy, and i wouldn't be surprised if i draw the game. ( Dang i lost the toss, a win looks unlikely now)

Result

As i expected after losing the toss a draw. Batting in poor conditions made winnings impossible, but i fought bravely in the second innings. In the first innings, i made a few decent early breakthroughs, and i thought i had a chance. But Hopkinson, Martin Jenkins, Wright and brown ensured that i could never win with the first innings total set. Sadly i am bottom of the County Championship, and relegation look inevitable.

I settled down to some serious ICC yesterday and cranked open a bottle of red. Feeling it now though.

Probably the toughest game yet in the competition for me. The Hick and Moore partnership had the game won, until Moore fell. That gave me an end to work away at, and i did with great success. It soon became clear that i just wasn't going to get Hick out, so i gave up and concentrated on working over the batsmen at the other end. Once i got Moore out, i brought back the quicks and steam rolled the other batsmen. Thomas, getting 4 quick wickets, to ensure the rate suddenly climbed to over ten and over, and that was all she wrote.

A great performance. As usual, i got put in to bat in cloudy conditions and got *****. But i bowled pretty well myself, and was reasonably happy to keep the deficit down to under 100. Second innings i batted much better, and was pretty happy with my score, and was quietly confident that i had just enough to secure the win, and i did. A good game, and this has raised my hopes that i might be able to avoid relegation after beating a better side.
