The Indians were outstanding in all departments, as they defeated England by 82-runs to get closer to the Super Sixes of the World Cup at Kingsmead, Durban on Wednesday night. In reply to India's 250 for 9, England were bowled out for 168 in 45.3 overs.

Ashish Nehra gave a performance of his lifetime by finishing with figures of 6 for 23 of 10 overs, the best by an Indian against England in ODI's and the third best showing in World Cups.

Mohammad Kaif provided India with a superb breakthrough as he ran out Nick Knight and then Zaheer Khan followed by claiming the wicket of Marcus Trescothick. Excellent bowling from Javagal Srinath and Zaheer Khan never allowed the English batsmen to play big shots.

After that it was Nehra all the way as he took 6 crucial wickets- Nasser Hussain caught behind by Dravid (15), Alec Stewart lbw (0), Michael Vaughan caught behind by Dravid (20), Paul Collingwood caught by Sehwag at first slip (18), Craig White caught behind by Dravid (13), Irani caught by Sehwag at slip (0). Nehra also ended his fantastic spell with a double wicket maiden.

Only Andrew Flintoff managed to score 64 that included 3 fours and 3 sixes, before he was dismissed by Srinath to a superb catch by Sehwag at wide mid-on. Caddick was not out on 13, as England were bowled out with nearly 5 overs remaining.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar scored a superb run-a-ball 50 and Virender Sehwag (23 off 29 balls) as they gave a good momentum to the innings. However Dinesh Mongia (32 off 66 balls) nearly slowed down the innings. However Rahul Dravid (62 off 71 balls) and Yuvraj
Singh (42 off 38 balls) revived the innings and helped India post a decent total.

Off the English bowlers Flintoff with his spell of two for 15 off his ten overs, kept the batsmen in check.

England now need an unlikely win over Australia in their final group match to secure a place in the Super Six, while a confident Indian team meet Pakistan on Saturday.
