The Commonwealth Games will be held in New Delhi, India in October, 2010.

The Official site:

Welcome To Commonwealth Games, 2010 Delhi

There's still a year to go, but the excitement has begun already! Delhi have to work up their standards now, show what the world hasn't seen of India! :D

After a lot of hurdles, controversies we atlast see the green signal for the games, even me excited it's a huge event you know. :banana2

Damn. Too bad I won't be there to witness the games! Would have loved to, specifically since they're being held in my Home city, but Most probably I'll be in Australia at that time..

Hopefully the preparations are picking up, because when I last saw, there was still a LOT to be done!

It's in the blood of us indians, Abhas, you know. :p

Unpredictable. The second people think we're lost, the next minute, BOOM, We make people think like, "was that me?"

Today's ceremony was awesome! I hope this is gonna turn good for Delhi. I really wish it'd.

Well with me into running, I'll certainly be watching this with interest. Pity I can't run there, only 25 secs off:p

Is jamaica considered part of the commonwealth? Even if it is i doubt he would risk it, he probably will only compete at the World Championships and Olympics

Well, according to this it is.

I'm very interested in how well India will do here, they've traditionally underperformed at both the Olympics and Comm. Games compared to much smaller countries. Perhaps having the home games will be enough to encourage some more diverse sporting funding, especially with no cricket in the games (which is stupid).

I'm also interested whether they deliver on the infrastructure, including promising excess supply of power and no load shedding, which I think to be near impossible to achieve in the short time remaining. Also, the public transport goals they have seem very unachievable.

I think India will do a good job of the games, but I don't know how they will get there.

So will Usain Bolt be there?

I highly expect he will be there. All the major athletes turn up to this. I'd say it's even to the world champs as far as priority goes. It's not that Bolt just goes in 2 comps.

show what the world hasn't seen of India!

"Unhabitable for human purpose"? And that the athletes village which was said to be completed. India have made a complete balls up of the whole thing.

No one cares about the Commonwealth Games in the slightest from a spectator point of view and as seen by the giant swathes of athletes who aren't going they don't either. Time to end the whole thing to be honest.

Well, I was wrong :p. Really hoping it will be a success, but it's looking doubtful day-by-day with reports of terrorism, crap buildings falling down and Athletes pulling out. ATM it seems like India was the wrong choice.

Prove the world wrong India for Pete's sake!

If it rains for one more day I think the event is in serious jeopardy. It has already brought a lot of shame to India and god knows what will happen if it goes through. ALl big names are not coming and its like West Indies second XI vs Bangladesh some time back.

The Delhi Govt. and Games OC had tried to build stadium and related facilities for players then the work would have ended years ago but instead they wen on beautifying Delhi, increasing Metro length, building flyovers and laying carpets on roads. :facepalm
