Nvidia 8500GT

Ah thanks. I guess i already exprienced it. The bandwidth problems dont cause games to run slowly but it causes games to freeze for 1 sec or lower sometimes in heavy games like F.E.A.R , when the card is doing the work but the bandiwdth isnt satisfying. Never mind i am getting a new motherboard tommorrow :)

I've been ditched again :( I went and bought an Asus P5GZ - MX after reading on the box " PCI-E X16 slot " , but when i came home, on opening it i found that it only operates at 4x speed :(
This is the mobo - http://www.asus.com.tw/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=348&l4=0&model=1374&modelmenu=2

Now i have to get another motherboard ? :(:(:crying I guess this time i woiuldnt bother any of the 945GZ zhipcset chipsets, i would straight go in for a http://www.asus.com.tw/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=182&l4=0&model=1670&modelmenu=2

or http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=ConRoe945G-DVI

Which one would you recommend ?

Thanks sid, though i was thinking, even though the P5BMX is a newer chipset, the benefit i get in the ASrock one is the 4 dim's. Is it worth it ? Because it helps in more room for memory upgrade, i wouldnt have to discard the earlier RAM's. PLus the Asrock has better overclocking abilities. On the other hand, the Asus one seems to be a newer chipset and more future proof ( Only Quad core difference, which i dont plan to use for the next so many years until it comes down the price of a c2d or pentium d. ) Thats the reason i am so confused.

but the Asrock one has only one PCI slot and you will be just fine with 2 GB of RAM at max as anything more will make your GPU and CPU a bottleneck with application that do require 2 GB+ RAM.

But i have a single 512 mb RAM stick atm. That means if in future i wish to upgrade to 2 gb, i'll have to discard my two 512 DIMM's.

I want to ask, does the asrock one has any other disadvantage than only one PCI-E slot ?

Seems alright, you can buy it. Just that I am not a big fan of these unknown small companies and their products.

Thanks buddy :) Actually Asrock was a bigger company a while ago, and its still a budget oriented company for motherboards. It's quite successfull here in india :)

Just thought i would bump this thread up, with some good news :)

This card has excellent bang for the buck. Even though the card is running at 4x speed, i get a steady 42 frames at F.E.A.R 1024 * 768 with 4x AA on !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, CArbon gives 31 frames at 1024 * 768 and maximum image quality without AA or AF. Keep in mind that the card is running at 4x PCI-E bus yet !!!!!!1

Arent these benchmarks inspiring ?
