OCB Test Championship Announcements

the OCB is pleased to officially confirm the changes to the dynamics of test series to be played from 1st July. If players look closely this is a less daunting set-up than was first feared. The leaks which came out yesterday were very wrong, because going by their methods matches contested between teams close in the table would have resulted in only half a match - 70 overs and 5 wickets each. But if you look at the actual system we are introducing, the wickets and overs a member has depends on the gap between the teams, not the league position, which is quite crucial. The weaker side will always have 10 wickets but we have made sure that stronger teams do not have their hands tied too much, and matches which are regarded as close affairs (i.e gap between teams is small) will result in both sides having their full resources - which wasn't the case with those printed before and allows for much mroe freedom for the better teams to express their prefereed styles of play against each other.

A crucial point
to be noted is that should your innings end before the alotted over passes, i.e you lose your wicket allocation in 60 overs instead of 80 then the 20 overs you lost will be available in the second innings

Also, should you declare before your wicket allocation - i.e you declare after the loss of 4 wickets when you have 6 available then the extra two wickets will be available in your second innings. If you are already allocated 10 wickets per innings then obviously this will not be effected.

the following is now what is confirmed to be the new rules:

Overs Available

gap = 1 place...both teams will have a maximum of 95 overs per innings

gap = 2 places...higher team 90 overs per innings, lower team 105 overs per innings

gap = 3 places...higher team 90 overs per innings, lower team 105 overs per innings

gap = 4 places...higher team 85 overs per innings, lower team 110 over per innings

Small Rule Change

The OCB have made a small change to one of the rules. from now on autoplayed teams will have as many overs is necessary to score the runs they need. This is due to the fact that the computer opponent only ever scores at 6 an over and the poor AI means it will not adjust to different match situations, therefor they will simply bat until they declare...the only intervention being the wickets allocation.
