Has anyone noticed problems with X1950XT GPU while playing Bioshock, because I'm having untold problems with it on STALKER. Namely, it crashes after a few minutes of gameplay no matter what the settings and I've heard that a lot of ATI users are having similar problems. Can anyone tell me whether there are many games that have issues with ATI? Because if there are, then I wish I'd stuck with Nvidia! Trouble is, nearly every forum I visited recommended the X1950XT!

My mate owns one of these cards, and runs Bioshock effortlessly on full.

The only thing I can suggest is to get the newest version of both the Catalyst Control Centre, and of course the most recent drivers to date, Catalyst 7.8

Check in options that Vsync is on or off, because certain moniter types have trouble with it.

I'm not a big gamer, in fact my 1950 is somewhat under-utilised to put it lightly, but I will say this, it kicks ass at pretty much everything I've thrown at it and there are rumours that the_gas has actually mated with is cards and produced offspring he loves them so much.

Try updating your GFX Drivers they may provide better stability.

I recently upgraded to my current specs thinking that I'd finally be able to play STALKER at decent detail levels with a lot of shiny stuff turned on. Instead of that, I play for a few minutes and then the game freezes! It often freezes when I try to shoot something, and it also freezes for no reason as well. I've tried Float32 (many versions) and all kinds of different settings. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, no change. I've tried various patches and also playing with no patches and again, no change. I'm really fed up with this issue, I was looking forwards to playing STALKER (finally) and now, it does this! I got better results with my old 6600GT!!!! What I don't get is nearly all my other games are fine and are running brilliantly, so I don't think there's anything wrong with my system, as if there was something amiss, surely other games would act up, games that are graphically intensive like Oblivion? But Oblivion runs fine, at high settings! I'm running the latest drivers and Win XP Home, by the way. I've even got the FSX demo running nicely!

Please help, as I currently feel like chucking my copy of STALKER out of the window!!!

Try contacting their support for this issue or search for this issue at Google, Yahoo etc. Or the best method submit a Support Ticket to ATI they can solve your problem.

Yes he makes a good point!

I reckon it could be a problem on your system, what im not sure, but speak to ati and submit a support ticket.

I think the problem is that you haven't uninstalled your previous Nvidia card driver properly before you installed your ATi one. I tried googling your problem, and came up with the threads you opened regarding this issue in oher forums!!! Anyways, in one forum, you seemed to have mentioned the "Zero Display Service Error", so I searched that instead and realized that most people who have faced and solved the problem, have done so by reformatting their PC, however, this seemed to be a tip to fix the problem, so try and see if this works for you.

I know, I've asked a lot of people, but the way I see it the more places I post, the better the chance of finding a solution. What's doing my head in is why this is only happening in STALKER!

Thanks for the link, by the way, I'll give it a try. Let's hope it doesn't fix STALKER and stuff everything else up, eh!
