Relating to the batting order

I have some confusion over how the AI positions you within the batting order, for example being a top order batsman means I bat at 3, and a middle order at 5, however the middle order runs from 4 and so surely, the AI should put me in at 4 when my skills are high enough?

I ask because batting at 5 means I hardly get a chance in T20 and I've always been a 2 drop batsman, ideally I'd like to bat at 4 in all formats

I think once, before patch 3, I got dropped down the order for a few failures in a row. Since the patch, I bat 5 constantly no matter how I perform. In teams that I get the captaincy of I'll move myself up and down the order depending on how I'm playing.

I replaced Steve Smith in the Australian side at 3 and he hasn't been seen at the international level since. Do the teams even change anymore in career mode?

I oppose that! I'm playing career as all-rounder (right hand batsman and wrist spin bowler) and selected my batting order to medium. I was selected to represent the team at number 6. So, that justifies that the numbers are not set as default to 3, 5 or 8.

Yes! teams can be changed in ongoing career mode. If you're playing at number 3 for Australia then obviously Smith will sit at 12th position. This is a bad thing in the game as of now. It just don't pick best lineup for the squad. the number you're in will replace the original player. But, dynamic line ups are in play here. So, let say if you're playing your career at 2022, then obviously you'll see some new faces and some old one taking retirement. Even after you alter the original lineup in game.
