MUMBAI, Aug 31: David Shepherd reportedly apologized to the Pakistan team for giving a few wrong decisions during the Videocon Cup final, that eventually led Pakistan to 17-run defeat at the hands of the Aussies.

Quoting sources, the Daily Times reported on Tuesday that Shepherd realized his mistake and went to Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer's room on Sunday morning and "apologized".

The paper further said that the team management would not protest against the controversial decisions given against skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq and Yousaf Youhana. While Inzi scored only seven runs, Youhana was adjudged caught-behind on 43, with Pakistan 32 runs away from victory.

Meanwhile, according to The News , the PCB has dubbed chief selector Wasim Bari's harsh statements against Shepherd as "his personal views". "The Board has nothing to say on this issue. What Bari has said are his personal views. And technically he is not our employee and works on honorary basis," PCB spokesman Abbas Zaidi said.

The spokesman was replying to a question that while holding an official position the chief selector was bound to follow the ICC code of conduct, which bars boards and its officials, players and team officials from publicly criticizing any umpire or any umpiring decisions.
