Stuart MacGill announces retirement.

is is there many players looking to come into the team as a spinner for Australia then, i dont follow the Australian domestic game, but Ive not heard any names be mentioned

Players are taking retirements when they they just failed once :( Gilly did few months ago and now McGill . Need to see wha Beu can do :) otherwise we already have spinner ;) WARNEY :D

well he could have had a great career if it wasn't for Warne but he is too injured and he lost allot of his control and keeps bowling full tosses in Tests which is really bad, and yesterday was probably his worst day bowling in Test cricket.

Hmmmm, can't remember what our Test schedule is after this but I'm hoping we have another series so that Casson has enough time to prove himself.

Our next test series after this is India.

We only have 3 ODIs against Bangladesh at home and the Champions trophy next.

Nothing surprising really, his odd full toss from recent years appears to have turned into his stock delivery. It will be interesting to see if Australia give Casson a go or try to work around the situation with Clarke and Symonds.

Clarke and Symonds have been surprisingly effective in Tests, while I'm not sure they would have picked Casson if they thought they had to use him. Noffke and Bollinger have been in devastating form in first class cricket, Noffke most notably with both bat and ball, so the decision is a tough one.

I personally think that Australia shouldn't be trying too hard in finding a new Warne. Casson, the last time I saw his stats, averaged in the 40's with the ball I think, and he gets a test call! I think they're being a tad bit too desperate here.

They should just back their strength's and go with a four-pronged seam attack. Symonds and Clarke can do the job if they want to slow things down.

This really came as a suprise to me. I can't work it out.

He was desperate to get his spot, he went through that hand surgery, hes gone to the Windies... and then announced he is retiring in the middle of a days play, to be immediate at the end of the test?! He must have just realised that his bowling was really bad or something...

I would be pretty pissed if I was CA. I reckon if they knew Macca was going to do this they wouldn't have picked him for the series.

Anyway good career from Macca even though he lived in Warneys shadow. His technique will always remain a part of my leg spin armoury :laugh
