SLING king Shaun Tait is prepared to shelve his Test aspirations to make a successful international comeback as a limited-overs specialist.

Tait has made the shock revelation after realising his turbulent career would be best served in targeting the shorter forms of the game.

I just hope he doesn't stop playing FC. Still I see where hes coming from as I see him more as a ODI/T20 bowler atm. As he said his FC form hasn't been great although before his break he has shown he can tear teams apart in FC.

I like this too - focus on the shorter version, at least for Aussie selection Taity.

That said...in Test cricket, I could see him getting in the side in Brisbane/Perth as your #3 pace bowler, but only as long as we played Watson too to cover Tait's occasional waywardness and lack of stamina.

I think this is a good move from Tait. I think he lacks the consistency and stamina to perform constantly at test level. Though I hope for Australia he does come good if he gets picked in either form this summer.

From what I've seen of Johnson, Tait would need to improve his consistency big time to get in the team on a regular basis. He could be in the team on swinging decks though as no matter how hard batsmen try there are just some deliveries that not even they can stop from being wicket balls at his pace.

I don't see why any 25 year old would be ruling himself out of a form of the game, particularly the highest one. Being consistent at test level is hard when you've only had three goes, and at 25 as I said, there's still plenty of time. I don't think Shaun is 100% mentally at the moment.

His decision and it could be justified as his body may not keep up with the test arena. That could effect his total cricketing career and that would be an awful waste. Don't have to look past Shane Bond to see what a gem he could've been (plus ICL).
