For 4 months I have been putting up with this game, checking the forum for answers to all the problems associated with it, and trying to use it's various work arounds. I wont go through all the bugs (as there is a 20 page sticky thread related to that!) but say that it has more bugs than a rain forrest> Here's the straw that broke the camels back:

Playing a ODI series, I used the line up editor to ensure the correct line up was set as I wanted to use the runout patch and knew that by doing so I would end up with 2 different line ups for the 2 innings. I had SA 10 for 4, all run out after some moronic running that even the patch didnt seem to be able to prevent. However later in the match SA were able to set a score of 220 mainly due to me not being allowed to alter the field for any of my bowlers (I had to spend the entire game with only 2 men on the boundary). I duly began my innings and progressed to 23 for 0 when the resume option ceased to respond and I had to abandon the match (meaning that I lost!).

Onto the second game. I was happily sitting on 245 for 2 after 25 overs (thanks largly to the 50 byes that Zim handed me by clearing the keeper with an aimless bouncer at least once per over!) when I decided to auto play the remaining overs. This left me 259 all out. Fortunalty I saved it before hand. Having finally posted 345, I decided to Auto play Zim innings as I didnt appear to be able alter the field once again and had liost interest. The game crashed to the desktop.....I give up!!!

Many thanks to all those who have helped me with various tips and patches and made the game almost playable!

It's a ****ty ****ty game, but thanks to people here, it can be a very very good one.

Use the line-up editor and savtweak to sort the line-ups.

Run the game with the runout.exe

Use the default field editor

Get the config editor and use a gameplay patch.

I stopped playing the game for months because of the things you mentioned. Now there are the fixes available to stop them, and i finally have the game working, and it's brilliant.

Yeah, some of those problems happen even with the fixes. You need quite a bit of luck too...
You were getting runouts even with the exe, that's just bad luck...
There is a wicket keeper positioning exe to help with the byes (runs in the bg)
If you have set the lineup correctly (and not changed it with the ingame team select) you shouldn't get autoplay crashed (which happen when the computer tries to bowl with a player who isn't in the team).
