I'd like to offer my condolonces to anyone involved in this terrible event.

I've heard that besides the wars that Australia have been involved in, this is the worst ever death toll. Really puts it into perspective.

Brian Naylor and his wife confirmed dead. 81 people are aswell, but expected to be in the hundreds.

Here are some photos i took of the fires near me. And trust me, this is nothing compared to the 60 foot high fires that have flattened towns

What in god's name are you doing that close to those fires? Shouldn't you be running for your life?!?!

Those photos are from the car as we were leaving. It's not like we waited until the fires slowly creeped up. Some where travelling faster than a speeding car.

Plus my town was safe, although on high fire alert. And the only way out was through this road.

You can't run mate, the fires are too quick. My mate may have lost his house, it's shattering I can barely watch the news, news website etc. I donated some clothes and stuff, its just unbelievable.

Friggin idiots those starting the fires. How did they do it? They just light a match, toss it in a bush, and go "Ooh, shiny!"

Food, you're right. But saying you shouldn't donate clothes is ludicrous. So many people out there are homeless without any clothes. I'll be donating my old clothes and some money for sure.

Over $80,000,000 has been donated as of around 10pm tonight. Brilliant effort by all Aussies.
