The U.A.E has been host to some of the greatest cricketing encounters on planet earth. It has also been a witness to some magnificent innings and bowling spells by the greats of yester-years.

Yes,Yesteryears...
Because ,today there is virtually no cricket i.e International Cricket played in U.A.E.
Is it time for cricket to return to U.A.E now that the ICC head-quarters are in Dubai ?

One answer:

YES!

:)

We have talent, fans, the facilities. It is one of the best countires to host cricket in in the world. There are 16 pitches in UAE used domestically, and 2 international grounds in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi of the highest quality. A new ground is in construction in Dubai, a 300 million (or billion, I forget) stadium overlooking the headquarters in Dubai Sports City. It is an excellent cricketing nation and deserves more chances.

International cricket is returning to the UAE.

India and Pakistan will play two ODIs in Abu Dhabi next month, and ODI cricket will return to Sharjah in February next year at the latest.

Are the ODI's official though ?

I wouldn't call them ODIs if they weren't.

Current ODI schedule for the UAE

18th April: India v Pakistan at Abu Dhabi
19th April: India v Pakistan at Abu Dhabi
6th February 2007: Ireland v Scotland at Sharjah

All official ODIs, and probably more to come to.

cool, hope that Zorax is jumping with joy :D.

I already knew abouth India-Pakistan matches for about a month now. I'm gonna go watch it :D

Well, with the Abu Dhabi matches coming up, it seems that India have finally dropped their boycott of cricket in the UAE. We could well see the return of the Sharjah Cup starring India, Pakistan and another of cricket's top countries.

The Emirates banned tobacco advertising. At that time the BCCI had Wills as its sponsor. Also the match fixing settled in and so on.
That's why they boycotted the Sharjah Cup.
