2-1 was the result of the previous Ashes tour.
1st Test - England just escaped from the defeat. Following on in second innings the top order completely failed. They where 42/4 and then came in Paul Collingwood who looked very determined but wickets kept tumbling at the other end as Matt Prior departed at 70 runs on board. Next came in Andrew Flintoff and Collingwood and himself(Flintoff) put up a 57 runs partnership until Flintoff was caught by Ponting in Johnson's bowling. With wickets continue to fall with departure of broad, G Swann & Collingwood put up a remarkable slow partnership of 62 runs and giving England some hope of defending the score over last night. But Hilfenhaus trapped Swann LBW and soon after Siddle took the most crucial wicket of Collingwood with plenty of overs to spare. Anderson and Panesar had the responsibilty to draw the match and they did that with Panesar facing 35 deliveries and Anderson facing 53 deliveries and ensured they had drawn the match.

2nd Test - The hosts England after the scare of the 1st test against the Aussie's were back fresh and put up an excellent 1st wicket partnership between Cook & Strauss of 196 runs. Captain Strauss scored the highest runs for England scoring 161 runs. First match hero with bat James Anderson did heroics with bowl this time around picking up 4 main wickets of Australia. His scalp included Philip Hughes,Ricky Ponting,Michal Clarke & Marcus North. Australia ended up with 215 runs in comparision with England's 425. England came out to bat againt and every contributed well by scoring in 30's and 40's and Matt Prior's flashing innings of 60 in 42 balls help England pass 300. Australia while chasing were stopped by Freddie as he took 5 wickets and Australia succumbed and lost to England in second test. England Now lead the series 1-0.

Flintoff Celebrates His 5 Wicket Haul
3rd Test - It was a rain affected match which went draw in the end but some positives out of this with Anderson picking yet another 5 wicket haul and continuing his good form and accompanying him G Onion picking 4 wicket haul in 1st Innings.Flintoff with bat continued his good form and Stuart Broad's 50 came in very handy. Hilfenhaus took 4 wicket haul. With rain affecting 3rd the play was called off without a single ball being balled.
The match ended in a tie with England leading 1-0.
4th Test - Taking some positives out from 3rd test both teams met at Leeds. England who won the toss and elected to bat first were bundled out for mere 102 runs with Peter Siddle picking up 5 wickets. England were without Pieterson and Flintoff and did really miss them. England were playing 5 bowlers and hoping to pick up early wickets they failed. Australia put up a massive total of 445 runs and England had to first score that and then put up the lead. It was a very difficult task as England were bowled out for 263 which meant that series was equaled and Australia won by Innings and 80 runs.

5th Test - With series leveled up at 1-1 and this being the last match of the 5 match test series at The Oval, England decided to bat again after winning the toss. For England Flintoff returned for his last test match as he called to Quit playing the test matches. England put up 332 on board but while chasing that down Australia were bundled and bowled out for 160 runs with middle order collapsing. Broad took 5 wickets and Swann took 4 wickets. In the IInd Innings, England put up a massive 370 runs on board and again chasing a mammoth target the of 600 plus runs England bowled out Aussies for 348 runs. This win ensured that England won the Ashes 2-1.
Man Of The Match was awarded to Stuart Broad for his 9 wickets in the test.
Man Of The Series was shared by Clarke and Strauss who batted beautifully throughout the tournament.
