Windows 98 vs windows xp - Which is better ?

I personally think Win98 for anyone who wants the greatest compatibility and WinXP for people who want a very stable and fast windows but can sacrifice some compatibility.

Also, anyone with a low end machine can look towards Win98 as its system requirements are significantly lower.WinXP is sluggish in anything less than 192mb of ram.

If you have a low specification computer use Windows 98. It has unbeatable compatibility and is quite stable. Windows XP is slow on a low specification machine. However the task manager in XP is much better. Programs can be terminated easily if they crash. Compatibility modes are useless. I think XP is only a visual and organization improvement on Windows 98.

I used to have Windows 98 and I thought it was excellent but ever since I switched to XP I've noticed I've missed out on great things.I agree, the task manager is much better,it even tells you hat processers u have if you don't know.

for cricket 2002, the best compatibility can be only provided by winxp. if u use any win9x u're more likely to get slower frame rates.

True Kar_ind,you've got a good point there u know.

Windows '98 was very good OS but since I have started using XP it is hard to go back.

Windows XP would be the best if you want better speeds but it still has a lot of small problems.

Windows '98 is a more reliable and stable OS but these days is getting a little old.

Overall I would suggest XP since it is up to date and overall looks and feels faster.

If Windows 98 was better than XP, Microsoft would not bother releasing XP.
