I personally think Win98 for anyone who wants the greatest compatibility and WinXP for people who want a very stable and fast windows but can sacrifice some compatibility.
Also, anyone with a low end machine can look towards Win98 as its system requirements are significantly lower.WinXP is sluggish in anything less than 192mb of ram.
If you have a low specification computer use Windows 98. It has unbeatable compatibility and is quite stable. Windows XP is slow on a low specification machine. However the task manager in XP is much better. Programs can be terminated easily if they crash. Compatibility modes are useless. I think XP is only a visual and organization improvement on Windows 98.
I used to have Windows 98 and I thought it was excellent but ever since I switched to XP I've noticed I've missed out on great things.I agree, the task manager is much better,it even tells you hat processers u have if you don't know.
