Team selections like this make everyone hate Dhoni. Dead rubber and he didn't gave a chance to Pujara, the best inform batsman currently in India. What type of message that'll send to the other youngsters, who's not in Dhoni's friend circle?

Why team India keep carrying such dead weight like Gambhir, who kinda slows the whole team down. Dhoni's partiality and stupidity in team selection is one of the main factor that make me hate him as a captain.

Is jadeja's new hair the secret of his success?Good innings from him.A little chancy from Raina but India owe a lot to him in recent times. From 79-5,India would be happy with 226.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar looks like a handy bat to me.He is so similar to Pravin Kumar in every aspect.
Samit patel did not have a good day.:lol

79/5 to 226 all out is poor. Fifth bowler is a shambles as sadly too often is the case, 11 overs for 80 runs and just one wicket. Fair play to Raina, but you have to wonder what a properly balanced England side might be capable of. England have lost all but once that Patel makes 40+ so that's not a good omen either way, a tail of Bresnan, Woakes, Tredwell and Finn doesn't look up to much so England will need some substance from the top order.

England top seven

1st ODI : 313/4
2nd ODI : 144/6
3rd ODI : 108/7
4th ODI : 237/6

That's runs scored by the top order and how many of them were out. With the bowling not exactly firing there aren't enough runs coming from the top order, 802/23 which is an average of 200/6 give or take and you won't win many ODIs from that position. Of course the bowlers aren't helping, much a second string attack as England decide to rest a few key players and leave a more inexperienced bowling attack to try and bowl in probably the worst conditions to face for experience let inexperience (Bresnan 68, Patel 35, Finn 29, Dernbach 22, Tredwell 13, Root 4 = 171 ODIs between them before today, Anderson has nearly that on his own)

If they'd actually been able to catch or had Raina been triggered early on when he was plumb then India would have been bowled out as cheaply as you wanted. Not to mention in a dead rubber why not use all your bowlers ;)

Like I was trying to say a few pages back... Plenty of positives to take from the tour.

One of which is hopefully that Dernbach never gets anywhere near the England team again!

Good win for the English, a comprehensive victory. Indians played well throughout the series however, 3-2 in India is not bad, the Indian bowling still seems very weak, most of the bowlers were lucky to get wickets.

At least they actually had 4 bowlers in this game. If they had that all series, they might have whitewashed it.

Well done to Bell!

Also an important cameo from Morgan after a fairly disappointing series by his standards.

Dhoni doesn't have any partiality or fond-ness for Gambhir and the whole world knows that. Recently, he was rumored to have complained to the BCCI about Gambhir's self centred attitude and all. Gambhir is part of the Sehwag camp, and the Dhoni and Sehwag camps have been at loggerheads and we all know it.

Probably Dhoni/selectors wanted to give Gambhir one last shot and see another failure from him before dropping him altogether.

A typical ODI inning from Bail on such a pitch, Hats off to him :clap

I am damn sure Pujara would have done the same, because patience is the key on such pitches. Virat, Gambhir and rohit always loses the temperament and patience, can't hold for long time. That 1st hour was vital, Pujara would have done what required on this pitch. Anyways, Gambhir and Rohit has to go, forget about that one good knock :facepalm

I hope selectors would look now at Ranji performers especially Abhishek Nayar, Jivanjyot Singh, Sitanshu Kotak, etc and drop the under-performers without any mercy :thumbs

I don't agree with the logic. MSD himself was injured and Pujara should have been given a chance to play in the match, especially since he did not turn up for Saurashtra as well.

Indian bowling has always been poor. It has never been our strong point although they show their sparks once in a while. I must agree though that the bowlers look promising enough. However, the media and others have unfortunately begun tagging Bhuvan as a potential all-rounder which may affect his bowling.

Until India start working towards pitches that offer help for all their bowlers their seamers will continue to fade away and fail to develop their skills.

It's not coincidence that Zaheer has been India's most successful seamer by a mile and that his success came after spending a year with Worcestershire really getting to know his game in more helpful conditions.
