Unfortunately CC2014 doesn't have that feature, however it will announce players who are retiring in the newsfeed so you can save that players stats as a html file before ending the season.
There is a box to be ticked under game options when starting a new game, unfortunately even when retirements are disabled pace bowlers skill deteriorates rapidly.
Please find attached another update:
Congratulations to India on the win, only consolation for Aus is a fine performance from Cummins (although I do think India was generous with their batting to get him such great bowling figures for the third innings).
2005 Ashes was the first series I followed and was invested in (I was 9, so was not following it with an in-depth appreciation of things like technique or even tactics from an analytical perspective, but just as a supporter).
I think there is a trial version you could use to check it out before buying it. I will say that unfortunately I have no idea how to get it so you can start a save in a random year and progress with the players changing, you have to use the International Series mode to play with period specific...

South Africa suffered a top order...
Apologies for delayed response!
Here finally is a (hopefully) actually functional version of this database. Had a more updated version, but unfortuantely my computer died and it was only uploaded on the now disabled CC forums.
When they interviewed Warne in the first innings of the last game he said Brett Lee, Adam Gilchrist and Rahul Dravid had all signed up but had other commitments. Hopefully they do this again next year so we can see these guys (although Brett Lee was still bowling at around 140 in the Big Bash in...

Here's a database mod for cricket coach 2014 which will hopefully eventually include all international cricketers of all time. At the moment it only has most Australian and English Cricketers from the pre-1900's era, and a selection of the alltime best players for...
1975 World Cup squads. Features a Sri Lankan side that was pushing for test status at the time, and East Africa (a team consisting of mainly Zimbabwean and Ugandan cricketers).
Bloody hell I forgot to pick a keeper. Guess Sobers would have to keep wicket.
Lance Gibbs test economy rate would bring him into consideration as a spin option.
