22 Feb - England vs Netherlands

Gunning for the first upset of the tournament here. Let's hope I do get lucky.

Gonna be England all the way & if im not wrong KP is gonna bring some serious pain.

Honestly don't think the Dutch have the firepower in batting or bowling to win, but I think England may make it as close as it's gonna get - not for the first time against minnows. England meander through their and their opposition's middle overs, it's not that England batsmen lack the ability of counterparts in better sides, just they don't seem to have good shot selection sense and don't seem to know when to accelerate or how to best achieve said acceleration.

And when bowling it is mostly about containment rather than taking wickets, and for some reason a fixation with getting the weaker bowlers through their overs even when on top! :facepalm

There also seems to be an England obsession with the keeper. In Tests it was long the Read vs Jones debate, a lot of debate about who should keep in Tests. In ODIs it seems to be heavy focus on the keeper opening, although England seem to now have given up the ghost of gilchrist past and are now trying Pietersen - the emphasis seeming more on speed of scoring ability than QUANTITY OF RUNS :facepalm:facepalm Last World Cup the keeper did quite well batting down the order (Nixon), but England are excessively obsessed with that "pinch-hitter" role and have been since 1992. It seems to take precedence over all other failings which England probably think don't exist or put down to "just the way it goes sometimes" aka luck

This is a good start from Netherlands!!

17 for no loss in 3 overs. The only way for Associates to keep up with Test playing nations is playing aggressive and then slightly slowing down. 250 to 260 odd runs if made by Dutch it would be awesome

Some terrific shots are being players by the Netherlands batsmen. Netherlands off to a good start 30 for no loss after 5.4 overs. Now, it's important that both the openers concentrate in rotating the strike rather than playing a silly shot and giving their wickets away.

Terrific start for the Dutch.Flat pitch-36 in the first six. English bowlers getting hammered really badly.

Well, there goes the first wicket. If the Dutch can get around 250-270, match on.

Another 4!! Terrific!! Really waiting for Doeschate innings!!

And there goes a wicket!!! Please do not falter it's a good start have good temperament and play well

And the way Doeschate played his 1st ball he indeed looks nervous

Tom Cooper is a quality player. Hope he gets a good partnership going with RTD. Both Ireland and Netherlands look very strong. I don't think Bangladesh will be able to beat both these teams

The thing is most of the Dutch and Irish have played in the county and played alongside English players. They would obviously know how to handle these players in match situations and thus will be interesting.

As you say khalek, Group B is quite unpredictable and with India,South Africa ,West Indies and England- these teams can choke anyday. Not impossible for the lesser ranked teams to make an impact here.

If Netherlands score anything above 270 then I'm sure that England won't be able to chase that and we'll witness the first upset of the tournament.
