Live the action on all formats from 21 June 2013

This summer, 505 games puts you in control of the ultimate rivalry in Test cricket with ASHES CRICKET 2013. To be released for the start of the 2013 Investec Ashes Series, ASHES CRICKET 2013 offers unique and realistic features for cricket fans and gamers alike.

Whether playing on X360, PS3, Wii U or PC, dynamic game play adds variety to each match. Players will have to adapt to varying and altering pitches; whether it?s a green seaming wicket or deteriorating fifth day pitch susceptible to spin and bounce. Weather forecasts will also change, altering the course of the match; overcast conditions will be more conducive to swing, while sunny days are a batsman?s paradise.

ASHES CRICKET 2013 includes a brand new game engine creating a truly authentic gaming experience. Batsmen have 360 degree control over shot placement, requiring impeccable placement and timing to build an innings. A new line and length bowling system gives bowlers the tools to set plans for batsmen throughout a day?s play and players have complete freedom to set a field of their choice. For those who prefer to be led however, there are options for intelligent automatic field placement.

Connoisseurs of the game will be able to play the complete 2013 Investec Ashes Series, with official England and Australia teams, however those more interested in the short form of the game can take on the rest of the world in limited overs tournaments and leagues.

?We are delighted to be able to announce some of the key features for ASHES CRICKET 2013,? commented Ralph Pitt-Stanley, General Manager for UK & Export at 505 Games. ?This game has been created with real cricket fans and players in mind. The new engine allows players to mimic a cricketers most important attribute, his technique.?

Further details on ASHES CRICKET 2013 will be revealed exclusively over the coming months via the official website community forums at Ashes Cricket 2013 ? The Video Game, via Facebook at www.facebook.com/ashescricket2013 and Twitter www.twitter.com/ashescricket13 .

Line and length system was there in Ashes 2009 and IC 2010. How is it different this time around remains to be seen. Also it seems that the game will be more conventional with regards to bowling and the much discussed Bowling Marker will be there again.

Despite all it's problems, I always thought ic10 was a good improvement on ac09. If this new game is basically the same but with improved ai and pitch/weather conditions actually meaning something then it still could be good. I have no reason to doubt this game won't be an improvement on ic10. And if this company's games are an improvement every time, then that just shows the company is moving in the right direction.

Sounds very interesting but Big Ant still have the edge over this game for me.

After everything I have read so far I am quietly confident that this could be a very solid game!

It appears Big Ant may have the extra gimmicks and game modes etc. However I wouldnt be surprised if Chief and his men have gone all out on gameplay to compete.

The weather , swing, pitch etc are all things that if they truely do make a difference will add the variety to the game that past creations have lacked.

I always felt in past games that I was just going through the motions waiting for the AI to make a mistake, no play and misses no hand on head moments.

Hopefully that variation is here this time!

I like the idea of the overhead conditions changing throughout the match (provided of course the pacing is good enough that tests don't finish in 2 or 3 days). Simple thing but not sure it's been done before.

Yes, but I hope the change won't only come from the beginning of a new session. It needs to change during a session.

This is more like a teaser, whats line and length system? And 360 control? We didnt have that before and does that mean no option to vary the power?. I should say though, freedom of field placing is good news. Not sure if BigAnt can do that.

360 control is fairly self-explanatory. You can score runs all round the wicket. There's nothing to suggest you won't be able to make shots as powerful as you want.

Picking the gaps was something I really liked about IC10. Too often with other games you played the "shot" and most the time it went straight at the fielder. You basically knew once a certain fielder was in position you couldn't beat them without an aerial shot. IC10 was good because you could beat the fielders if you timed it right.
