very poor sportsmanship rahulkhush clapping coz people are injured.
Plus wouldnt you rather face our full strength side so that if we get smashed we have no excuses.

Dont care how much you hate a team or a certain player clapping serious injuries is not cool.

As for the aussie team selected once again we arent taking enough genuine batsmen.
Guys like Katich,Hughes etc should be in there.
I can see us getting out for some poor totals over there with that team selected.

@ Sman: Dont take it seriously. I am not sure why he is doing that, but in India, any team that comes from Australia will be given the respect that it has always got (which is of high standards) and beating you guys still remains the top priority. After Pakistan, we hate losing to you.:D

I think he probably realises the only way india can have a say in this series is if aus players get injured....

But Aus got enough replacements tho!!!

For whatever reason we don't seem to like taking too many batters. It doesn't make sense though since there is more room to rotate the batters than the bowler and we only used Siddle and Hilfenhaus in the last series cause we wanted to give them a game. Now we got 3 bowlers with only 4 spots. Hopes and Watson also can play as a bowler if needed so we really should have 2 reserve batters.

Looking at the way Smith bowled against Sussex a few days ago, he could have been selected for this tour. He would offer more than Holland with the bat and in the field, and he's a leg-spinner. who can turn the ball. Looks a good future cricketer.

Rohit has no chance. Nayar deserves to hold on to his spot, so Jadeja is a no go. Yusuf will stay probably too.

Ferguson is not my worry, i am more concerned with Haddin and Pup. Both are quality players against Spiiners and we will be without both of them :( Paine is new, despite of his form from Natwest to Champions trophy, i really dunno how much can we expect from him.

No. Rohit is highly doubtful to make a comeback now. Jadeja has a small chance, but I think even he wont be brought back. Yusuf Pathan and RP Singh are almost certain to be dropped. Rahul Dravid will also be eagerly awaiting his fate because Indian pitches arent as tough and it might be better to have a more aggressive (or younger) player than Dravid. These are the changes/replacements I expect to happen

Yusuf Pathan - Virender Sehwag
RP Singh - Munaf Patel
Rahul Dravid - Yuvraj Singh/Murali Vijay (depending on how fit Yuvi is)

Nayar might retain his place because he hasnt had many chances. Ideally I would like to see Sudeep Tyagi in place of RP Singh but Munaf has done better in the recent Challenger and Irani cup, so he is most likely. I think they will persist with Ishant Sharma (he has done decently in the Challenger too) because we all see him as India's future spearhead.

Why did they choose the team for just the first 2 ODI's? Are they look and assess the team again and pick another team?

For ODI series held in India, the selectors always pick a team for 2 games first, and then go on and pick the team again. So that we have the luxury of dropping players inbetween series if they dont perform.

Well, the team is just on the lines as I predicted except for these changes - Tyagi comes in for Abhishek Nayar and Ravindra Jadeja comes in for Dinesh Karthik. This is the near perfect ODI team (barring Zak). As much as I feel sorry for Dravid, he is not part of our future plans in ODI's and he will just be used in case we have major injuries/loss of form. I am very happy to see Tyagi tried finally. Dont know how much faith Dhoni will have on Jadeja who can prove to be a liability with the bat if he comes in anytime after 40 overs. Well my XI for the first game would be

Virender Sehwag
Sachin Tendulkar
Gautam Gambhir
MS Dhoni
Yuvraj Singh/Ravindra Jadeja (fitness of Yuvi concerned)
Virat Kohli
Suresh Raina
Harbhajan Singh
Sudeep Tyagi
Ishant Sharma
Ashish Nehra

*If Yuvi is not fit, Jadeja will bat below Raina.

Having Viru, Yuvraj and Raina as the part timers who are good enough to handle 10 overs, we can afford 7 specialist batsmen. I want Tyagi tried as soon as possible. I am pretty excited about this team. Zaheer's comeback will add tremendous value to the team and will make us look really menacing on paper.
