Australia's Tour of India - 7 ODI's

we will not win this series

Our batting lineup is far too weak
We only have about 3 specialist batsmen n the team.
And on indian wickets you need real batsmen to score enough runs as allrounders wont do the job.

Katich, Hughes etc would make our batting lineup so much stronger

If we repeat last series result I will be happy. Lets hope we avoid whitewash.

I think we are capable of reversing the last series result in our favor (i.e. our last home series vs Aus).

Dhoni is fit and Yuvi is not playing the first game (though Dhoni has confirmed that Yuvi will be fit for the 2nd game). Since Sehwag is back and Kohli looks in good touch, we wont miss Yuvi as much. Sehwag and Tendulkar to open followed by Gambhir, Dhoni, Kohli, Raina, Jadeja and the 4 bowlers (maybe Harbhajan and three pacers). Since Jadeja is more of a batsman than Mishra, he will be picked which is not bad. Hope he has either learnt more about the big hitting process or that he doesnt come in when we need to switch into the T20 mode. I think Ishant, Nehra and Munaf will be the fast bowlers. Munaf has been giving injury scare to most of our batsmen at the nets. Hope he does the same (and even more) to the Aussies in the real games.

Stuey Clark should have got called instead of Bollinger

Team news

Yuvraj Singh is likely to miss the first ODI due to a finger injury, which means both Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja might play.

India (probable): 1 Sachin Tendulkar, 2 Virender Sehwag, 3 Gautam Gambhir, 4 MS Dhoni (capt/wk), 5 Suresh Raina, 6 Virat Kohli, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Harbhajan Singh, 9 Ishant Sharma/Amit Mishra, 10 Praveen Kumar, 11 Munaf Patel

Australia don't have Clarke and might use Marsh to stabilise the middle order. Ponting has said the final eleven will be only decided on the morning of the game. Marsh might be able to fill in for Clarke, but Australia will sorely miss the services of Nathan Bracken and his slower cutters which perfectly suits the Indian conditions. However, they do have in Doug Bollinger, who has played in India for Australia A and for New South Wales.

Australia (probable) 1 Shane Watson, 2 Tim Paine (wk), 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Shaun Marsh, 5 Michael Hussey, 6 Cameron White, 7 James Hopes, 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Nathan Hauritz 10 Brett Lee, 11 Doug Bollinger.

I would say Voges is more likely to provide stability to the middle order than Marsh. And they seem to have forgotten Siddle is over there.

I was suppose to write an article about this match but obviously I'm running out of time. And with schooling and other extra activities I doubt I'll get an article done. Hopefully though, my predictions that I added to my previous article are correct and hopefully this match will turn out to be a blinder. I'm tipping the top of the Indian batting line-up to topple after around 50 runs but the middle order and the tail to uphold the team and steer them to 230ish. Brett Lee should have a good match given his current form, tipping 3 wicket for him.

Day games that start at 2pm AEDT. That's what I'm talkin bout.

Paine
Watson
Ponting
White
Voges
Hussey
Hopes
Johnson
Lee
Hauritz
Siddle

With the way the top order is humming along, I think Voges is definitely in, surely he is preferred in a middle order role to Marsh. However, given that Hopes' bowling has been pushed right to the outer, there is serious potential for both Voges and Marsh to play.

I think no. 11 is probably the most questionable position. The shape of the squad means most of the back up players are fighting for that spot.

Siddle is the incumbent and his ODI career has been consistent, but not overwhelming. His game is simple, bowl a good length at real pace and back the quality of the stock delivery to outsmart batsmen looking to drive. We've also seen, perhaps too often, that he keeps going even when under considerable physical duress. He has experience in India and was playing in the CLT20, although his form was not overly promising. There's probably no great reason yet why he wouldn't hold his spot, unless maybe the pitch is expected to take a lot of turn.

Doug Bollinger looked quite good in the Champions League. He's a similar sort of paceman to Siddle, but probably with more frills; he bowls left arm from a lofty height and also looks to swing the new ball. He can be a bit prone to stray off line, but when he finds the line, it is really good to see deliveries like the one which got Dwayne Bravo on Friday; if you can make the batsman play a tentative backfoot defence in a Twenty20 final, you can surely do it in any format. He's probably not the most penetrative unless the pitch is doing a bit, but he definitely adds a couple of factors to the attack.

Jon Holland didn't have a great time in the CLT20 and it could be said that the lack of opportunity given to cagey leg spinner Bryce McGain was not to Victoria's benefit. However, he did play a couple of good games. When the pitch turned, Holland basked in the moment and on a very good batting wicket at Bangalore, he was able to cramp top quality right handers such as Dravid and Taylor for shots on the onside. Australia will be hoping that this is what they might be able to call upon if a dusty wicket comes their way.

Hilfenhaus would seem to be the last man up. He's not exactly an ODI specialist, although he would seem to have many of the assets for it. Indian pitches probably aren't his element either, though strange things can happen with the low dew point and lack of grass. He might be a chance if the selectors rate him on his Test pedigree, but in general, one would hope they aren't forced to turn to the 5th seamer, no matter who it is.

India is definately having bowling and fielding problems, they are not upto the mark, I Sharma is out of form, RP was laso hit for runs in CT,Zaheer is not there, Yuvi is doubtful...Aus have definately edge here..

Cricinfo fixed their timings. Match begins in about 2 hours from the time of this post (11:30 pm Eastern US time).

The toss will play a crucial role in today's match as it will aid th efats bowlers because of the early start, the team batting second will have a major advantage.

Highly expected series . Hope the aussies keep their cool when they come for bashing against the indian top order unlike the last time when they got murdered. Good luck aussie

FoxSports is way behind Cricinfo. Cricinfo had Australian winning the toss and batting about 15 minutes, Fox had it about 5.

Anyway, should be a good game. Looking foward to how Voges go in place of Ferguson. C'mon Australia!

Yeah same, I'm loving that as well. Too bad there only two day games in a series of seven.

Good start so far from Australia, a four first ball! Hopefully our opening pair's good form can continue.

Surprised Ponting wants to bat first tbh, I would of thought bowling first would make sense, but then again Dhoni wanted to bowl first so...

Lovely start for Watson, nice way to get of the mark.
