Gutted, absolutely gutted to lose this after coming so close and putting in so much effort. My first ball departure really set us back. Well played Australia. Happy to score some runs though.

A big thank you to The Author. Fantastic league man, you always pull out something special. Really enjoyed being a part of this!

Season Review

The warm-up matches saw some good, but ultimately uninspiring cricket played. The tragic story from this series was that it saw the last first-class hundred of Phillip Hughes' career, a sparkling 107. We also had the privilege to see a truly mesmerising spell of spin-bowling, in which Australia's captain VC Andrews took seven for 85 for East Coast.

   BASS STRAIT  |   15    |  32   |  47
In a competition which ultimately went down to the final day of the season, and whether or not Nullarbor could bowl out the mighty East Coast, three men and their dogs were treated to some excellent cricket. The Man of the Season was East Coast's Stuart Clarke, whose 144 and 96 powered his team to outright victory late on the fourth day, and launched him straight into the Australian Test side.

India will be very disappointed with a campaign which saw them present very little in the way of a serious challenge to the home side. Two-nil really doesn't do justice to how dominant the Australians were in this series. Using the Shield points system, they scored 168 pts to India's 63. For Australia, the crucial factor was that individuals stood up to be counted: David Warner was dynamic at the top of the order, Randy Orton hit twin tons, and Tarak Sai Prathik was remarkably consistent. For India, it was a story of fine margins, for none more so than User 2010, who hit six half-centuries, including two nineties and an eighty, but didn't manage a ton all series.

GOLDEN BAT

:aus: Nick Agger

|Mat.||Inn.|N/O|Runs|Ave.|Balls|SR|HS|
Tests|4|-|8|2|459|76.50|854|53.7| 129 |2/2
First-class|5|-|10|2|515|64.38|973|52.9| 129 |2/2
After a slow start to his Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign, Nick Agger found his place at number four, where he scored hundreds in each of the last two Tests. Perhaps his best innings was the violent assault in the Second Test runchase, in which he thumped an unbeaten 71 from just 54 balls to win the Test, and save his place in the side.

:bwl: GOLDEN BALL

:aus: Sam Baromono

|Mat.||Ovr.|Runs|Wkts|Ave.|Eco.|SR|Best|
Tests|4|-|149.5|527|20|26.35|3.5|45.0| 5/57 |1/-
First-class|5|-|191.1|638|26|24.54|3.4|44.1| 5/57 |1/-
Sam Baromono is the only member of the Aussie pace trio who falls some way short of express, but his consistent line and length, coupled with late and subtle movement, have made him a handful for the Indian batsmen. Having already seen what he could do in the warm-up match, they were no match for him, granting him a debut five-for and a series-deciding four-wicket haul.

Thanks to all of you for taking part.

It is shame not to be able to chase the target after ending Day 4 on a high and with the most batting we have had in the entire series (our #10 has 2 test hundreds!) heck I even dropped myself but we were just not good enough. That said, given the number of allrounders we have in our squad I was really looking forward to the ODIs but no problem. Thank you for a wonderful league The Author and thanks everyone for making it an interesting affair.

Good to end up the league on a winning note along with the golden bat award. We played some good cricket and it reflected on the series outcome. Thanks for a great league The Author! :)
