About

Cricket Australia, ECB, BCCI & PCB in joint venture have announced a Knockout 4 team ODI championship cup. This series will take place every year from now on. The draws will decide who will face whom in this knockout competition. There will be only 3 matches in this competition with two matches being the eliminator & last match being the final of the championship cup.

The pitch has some green grass left. The bowlers if bowl right line and length should reap some benefits. If a batsman gets in should score big.

Innings Summary

Australia and England began the tournament at Sussex Oval ground. England won the toss and elected to bowl first. After winning the toss and electing to bowl England were looking for early wickets. Aaron Finch and David Warner were Australia's opening batsman. In the second ball of the innings due to some mix-up Aaron Finch was run out courtesy some exceptional fielding by Eoin Morgan the skipper. Aussie skipper was out in the middle with David Warner. David Warner started playing freely and hit the pommies all around the park. Steven Smith soon joined him and smashed boundaries & sixes all around the park. Australia were just taking the game away from England as Warner scored his hundred. Smith followed him and scored a ton too. Smith & Warner hit 267 runs for the second wicket before Roy caught Warner off Rashid's bowling. As the saying goes one wicket brings two and sometimes three. George Bailey was just at crease for 2 deliveries before get caught by Anderson bowled Wood. Maxwell soon followed Bailey for 7 runs which got England somewhat back in the match as Australia were 281/4 from 267/1. Smith was still holding strong and reached his 150 as Australia reached 300. Wade, Faulknar, Marsh, Coulter-Nile helped Australia reach 386 for the loss of 8 wickets. At once Australia looked scored 400 plus runs but England bowlers were able to slightly hold the mighty Australia lineup.

England came out to bat wanting to chase 386 runs. The task was not going to be easy. Roy and Hales started calmly as Roy played few magnificently. Starc and Cummins bowled few good delivers and troubled Hales more then Roy. Hales soon was cleaned bowled by Cummins. The wicket falling never stopped and only Eoin Morgan looked good before too succumbing to pressure against Marsh. Mitchel Marsh & Faulknar picked up 8 wickets out of those 10 and in the end 380 odd runs were just too much for England who get knocked out of the tournament.

Steven Smith was announced the MOTM.
