ICC cancel Twenty20s
In a shock announcement today, ICC president David Morgan has announced that Twenty20 cricket will be scrapped on the international stage.
In a statement this morning, Morgan said "Twenty20 cricket is killing Tests. It is unacceptable for some countries to not be filling up stadiums for what we consider to be the purist, and best version of the game. We think that this format is teaching children and young players bad habits such as slogging and bowling to keep the score down rather than to get wickets."
"As for domestic competitions, they will still be allowed to play Twenty20 cricket in thier respective competitions. We still fully condone the IPL and Twenty20 Cup and still encourage countries to have one Twenty20 competition."
More to follow.
