Looks like Punjab will never manage to win more than six games a season and always end up screw themselves over towards the end of the season.

Seems like any new players that go to Punjab end up performing worse, akin to that old RCB meme (players that leave RCB end up performing well for other franchises). Rabada has fallen way off as a T20 bowler ever since he left Delhi. Rahul Chahar's been completely forgotten about, nowhere as effective he was for MI. Dhawan himself has looked off since he became captain. Imagine how much more destructive Livingstone might have been if he played for a franchise not named PBKS or SRH :D

I have no idea why they made Dhawan captain. He's got a proven history of being a mediocre to poor captain, a year of being captain for the Indian ODI reserves isn't going to change that magically.

Punjab has built a really good core of (relatively) young Indian cricketers. If Shahrukh Khan isn't gonna bat in the top 5, he shouldn't really be in their first XI. Think it's time to let go of Shikhar.

:bat: Prabhsimran
#2 (Atharva Taide?)
#3
:ar: Livingstone (:os:)
:wk: Jitesh
:ar: Sikandar Raza (:os:)
:ar: Sam Curran (:os:)
#8
:bwl: Nathan Ellis/Kagiso Rabada (:os:)
:bwl: Rahul Chahar
:bwl: Arshdeep Singh

This team has potential. What Punjab needs is a Faf du Plessis-esque player but their overseas slots are already filled.
As for the captain, Sam Curran seems the most obvious choice but he already has too much burden on him. They should release him next year and try to get him for a cheaper price.

While this does look good on paper, it still pales in comparison to what other teams can and will put out. And that is the problem, the only way you get over that is by extracting the best from limited players with smart management and tactics or build a really strong core of 12 players and hope they basically never get injured.

The issue with releasing highly paid players in a mini auction is that everyone knows you have a lot of money left and will often try to overbid for the players you target. Worst case scenario, they get a player who is still pretty good at an inflated price to fit into their already decent XI. That is also why I think the league needs to start having a system of trades like in American sports with contract lengths and free agency henceforth alongside a small auction that serves as the main place to get new players. The IPL generates an insane amount of money and underpays it's players heavily in comparison which isn't a good look. If the sport is supposed to move in a direction where these private owners want it to go, the first place to start would be by giving the players the amount of money they deserve as that is likely to be the main driving factor in such a world.

Chennai with as comprehensive a performance, as the definition of the word 'comprehensive' can be defined. It was not a 220+ pitch at all and after the openers kept the momentum going, Delhi literally wilted under the attack and decided "what the heck, I am waiting for this season to end" and gave away more freebies than one could imagine.

Theekshana came good today and Pathirana continues to impress beyond imagination. Theekshana seems to do way better outside Chepauk. Maybe he treats the playoff game as an away game or he is replaced by Santner? I dont see that happening, but hope Theekshana can find his groove at Chepauk. Would be a huge thing if CSK can win Qualifier 1 and go straight to the final. Gujarat is on our way and we havent beaten them yet (only 2 seasons though) but its at Chepauk. Hope we go good there!

Disappointing stuff from KKR to botch up that game. LSG were done and out, and somehow KKR let them in. LSG have qualified and now this puts Mumbai in a very tricky territory. They must not just win but win MASSIVELY to put themselves above RCB in terms of Net Run Rate. And after all that, RCB will know what they need to do, to overtake whatever net run rate MI sets for them. Can see all of this lead up to an LSG vs RCB Eliminator (Gambhir vs Kohli) :lol:D

KKR need wholesale changes. The first move is to remove Venky Mysore.

I think their domestic batters and spinners are fine but Roy aside, they should go into the next auction without the following players-

1) Russell
2) Narine
3) Ferguson (If you're not going to play him more than 3 games, you rather use the purse elsewhere. I would retain him)
4) Thakur

There are a lot of other bits and bobs but as said before, they're not as hopeless as people here in Calcutta think and they're not MI 2020 as some of them think. The thing which has hurt their balance most is not having a domestic keeper of pedigree.
