Oh no. Not more of this 20/20 crap.

Hope this doesn't fall through. Cricket is being used more and more as a way of making money using 20/20. I hate this circus crap.

Twenty20 is good for the newcomers to breathe some of the excitement of the game, so it is out of the question to get rid of it, but it is going too far.

Twenty20 should be limited to just one small seasonal competition in each test country's domestic league and one Twenty20 International per tour.

yay so now Imran Farhat can play for Aussie club :p.. hope so.. YAY

Exactly my thoughts. Twenty20 is taking over real cricket. Soon Twenty20 will take over one dayers and we are going to start having Twenty20 specialists. They are taking this way too far.

As long as it doesn't ruin our comp then I don't mind it, looks like an interesting format and if it's what gets fans starting to watch cricket then thats a good strat.

That means it all starts this year, player transfer etc.. ?

Its an idea of Lalit Modi.He is a good business man.Lets wait and see what happens.

Most of the people posting here are hardcore cricket fans, so not surprising you don't like the format that much

However the 20/20 format has the best chance of appealing to casual/young fans or getting previously non cricketing people interested in the sport (well maybe you have to exclude the sub continent from this statement) so its here to stay

Yep, you cant ignore twenty20 anymore (as the bcci have found out).

I would class my self a hardcore cricket fan and I think that 20/20 is an interesting format. It's fast, furious and has led to cricketers having to develop new skills and be innovative, which helps in the other formats.

It also has the upside of appealing to fans who may otherwise turn a blind eye to game because its something that you can pop along to without using up a whole day. Also, you tend to see a result which helps in capturing the attention of the casual watcher.

Ok, so it may not be cricket in its purest form but remember if its one thing that cricket needs then its the constant flow of new fans in order to sustain the game on all levels, and that is one thing that 20/20 can do.

As for the BCCI league I'll wait and see what happens, it's obviously a knee jerk reaction the the ICL league. I guess though they have the clout to make it work so interesting times ahead.

Brilliant idea. Champions League cricket is an insanely appetizing prospect. Twenty20 is the future of cricket whether you like it or not. It's the only format of cricket that even people who don't like cricket enjoy watching. So you can all pretend that you don't like it, but you'll end up thinking "My word, this is sporting entertainment at it's finest".

Yep, I can honestly say my recent visit to Twenty20 finals day was the most entertaining day I've ever had watching a cricket match (or 3) although I prefer the longer form of the game it doesn't come close for atmosphere and this proposed league would certainly be big on atmosphere, I would wonder how it would work in practice though with English sides as our season is out of line with the other countries being touted.
