Recently i was watching WI v/s England test, and I saw A. Cook getting out few runs short of century. And Commentators made too many wierd comments, i'll call it harsh.

A guy scores a 94 that is just 6 short of a 100. Just a difference of 6. That is, for instance, if a team loses a match by 6 runs, should he be responsible for it ?
This guy is forgot very quickly no matter how important that 94 was just because it was not a Century. Century is just a score . .100 that is, nothing more than that . .or is it ? Am I missing something ? Why is it loved so much :D

Mental barriers are important in cricket. That last run to convert a big 50 into a 100 is always of some importance because of the pressure.

The feeling of anguish and falling short is that of a score of 99. I think it really is of importance to a batsmans confidence. You'd want the ability to be able to go on and score big runs. I know Shane Warne is pretty scarred with his HS of 99.

Bowlers are the ones under-credited.
