Defiling Lords, lmao. That was the single greatest Ganguly moment of all time.

Wasn't it the same series where flags weren't allowed inside Lords either? Ganguly 'defiled' that too when he took one of the many smuggled flags from the crowd and waved it about in the lap of victory.

The turning point of Indian cricket. I will never forget that match and the celebrations that followed.

I dont see how Eng winning in 05 is considered better than Aus winning in India in 04, after 30 something years. Much better effort seeing as we had a stand in captain and stand in number 3. Amazing effort considering how badly we have played in india before and since.

We've been alright in India; Won the Champions Trophy and two ODI series 4-2. The test series was abysmal, but bad captaincy was one of the major reasons we lost.

We weren't that bad in 01, it was just the brilliance of Laxman that took the game away along with a possible 17th straight win. The Ashes is also the biggest contest in Test cricket and its still one of the talked about moments. The India 04 win was celebrated but hasn't achieved the coverage that the Ashes 05 win got.

Yes but if Aus win in England again it will be no huge surprise, we've won a lot of times in Eng over the past 100 or so years. That 04 win in India was amazing against a high quality side, media coverage doesnt mean anything. Of course Eng wouldve gone nuts if they won. To Gilly and the boys 04 was the biggest series win they ever achieved. And rightly so.

England beating us in 05 was no surprise? They hadn't won the Ashes in over a decade and they were a mess in the previous Ashes series. They also beat a high quality side, Hayden, Ponting, Gilchrist, Langer, McGrath, Warne, Gillespie, Martyn and the list goes on. And of course Gilly and co would rate the 04 win highly, because they won. But this isn't about the best series wins, its about the moment of the decade.
